Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello, I am from Alabama, USA, I have been taking snapshots/photos for many years. I started out with a small Brownie, then moved through a succession of other cameras until the 70's when I went with a Rolleiflex TRL. For the next 10 years or so, I shot a lot of "stuff" including some portraits and weddings. Got away from that because of a change in my real job, I was a truck/heavy equipment mechanic. About 5 years ago I retired and started part time inspections of heavy equipment, which required getting back into photography. Each piece requires between 50 - 150 shots. I was using a point and shoot Fuji, nice little camera, then moved too Nikon D40 with Tamron 18-250mm lens. This has worked great, got a shutter count a month or so ago, had 37,000! I also have a Nikon D7000, and a Nikon 800 (which I just got). Hope to enjoy my retirement traveling and making photos of whatever strikes my fancy.
Jim

Hello all. My name is Bernie Vail. Many years ago I was introduced to photography as a member of my college yearbook staff, shooting with a Nikon F and a 3X5 Speed Graphic (this was in 1962-65). After college I never did anything more with photography, but now that I am nearing retirement and looking for a hobby I gravitated back to photography. I am now the proud owner of a Nikon D7100 which the very helpful gentleman at the camera store sold me. :) Now I need to learn how to use it, so here I am.

Hello Bernie.
Quite a few of us on here have found our way back to photography after having been enthusiasts in our younger days, with life and work etc, etc, taking over for a few decades thereafter..
Great to have you here and I hope you enjoy it as well as finding it a helpful source of advice, guidance, support and online companionship.
By the way, if you'd prefer to be addressed as Bernie, you can go to Edit Profile and enter the name by which you wish to be addressed under 'Real Name'. Hi, I'm Joyce from Georgia, USA. I recently purchased a Sony NEX-6 and am trying to relearn what I used to know about photography. I've been doing the point and shot with a digital camera since 2003 and have been wanting more and more from my pictures. My 5th (or 6th) camera was a Sony HX1 that I loved, but decided I wanted to try DSLR. I'm not a pro, will never be a pro, will not shoot a wedding for a friend! I just want to be able to take better pictures of the places we travel. Since I've retired from teaching, I now have the time to learn a new camera and I'm also trying to learn Lightroom 5 to see if I want to add to/replace iPhoto. I may go back to school if the local college offers a photography class because when I took that course 42 years ago, we learned to develop our own black and white film!!!
I have looked at a few of the links on this website and think it will really helpful and look forward to reading more and learning more and taking better pictures!

Good! Don't go near a job like that unless you're very, very confident.
Joyce - It's great to have you here and thank you for deciding to join CiC. I certainly hope that being part of the forum complements what you will learn from the tutorials. CiC is very much about learning and, as a teacher you will appreciate how central learning is to our growth and development.
I look forward to you being part of the forum.

Hi all. I'm LindaS and live most of the time in beautiful NW Montana near Flathead Lake and a easy drive to Glacier Nat'l Park. I shoot with a Nikon D7000 and lenses are 18-200 mm VR, 70-300mm VR, Sigma 50-500mm IS, Tokina 11-16mm, Nikon 35mm F1.8. I love shooting outdoors here and attend some local photography clubs. I spend some time in Florida too and love the birding photography there. I've been shooting for most of my adult life but quite seriously for the past 20 years. Love learning new techniques. I use Photoshop CS6 and am still learn of the new Cloud upgrade system. I've always been amateur but this past fall some of my canvas prints were accepted at a local gallery and have been selling.

It is a pleasure to welcome you as member of the CiC forum, Guatam. I hope you enjoy being part of this online resource and that it helps you learn and develop your photographic knowledge and skill.
I have never used the camera about which you write, so cannot comment. But if you do wish to dicuss this or other pieces of equipment, you can ask a question in the Digital Cameras & Equipment section of the website.

Hello all!
My name is Sandy and I am a new member from Minnesota. I shoot a Canon T3i with a Tamron 18-270 or 200-500. I purchased my first SLR a couple of years ago and have attended quite a few seminars and taken LOTS of pictures. I have improved quite a bit, but there is so much more to learn! I look forward to seeing your shots and reading feedback on mine. :)

Hello, I'm a new member who has an absolute love for photography and i take beautiful photos. I want to become a professional photographer and i found this site, and i'm trying to figure out what i need to know to make the transition from a a brand new beginner to an advanced professional one. I'm interested in photographing children, people, and nature. From capturing someone's profile in detail to capturing majestic mountains, or children dancing. Can everyone please give me advice? Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi All
New to the site. Only started getting into photography about Feb/March this year. Have a little sony cyber shot and i've been amazed by the quality of my photos that it really sparked an interest in photography for me. I've been trying to teach myself to shoot in manual and have been learning all the basics. Love it!! Looking at buying a new camera in the short term. I can't wait to get more familiar with the site and the tools to assist me in this wonderful journey into photography. OK I should've read how to make a post first, but here goes :-)
