I'm interested in photographing children, people, and nature. From capturing someone's profile in detail to capturing majestic mountains, or children dancing. Can everyone please give me advice? Thanks. To start with, i need to figure out what is the best DSLR camera to buy.
Hello there.
First thing, from a CiC point of view, so that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter the name by which you wish to be addressed under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.
Second thing - Welcome. Great to have you here. I hope you find it informative and helpful, as well as enjoyable.
The road to being a professional photographer is, like achieving all professional goals, is all about learning and applying that knowledge. You'll find many people writing that being a professional photographer is more about business skills than about photographic skills, although that helps.
Depending on where you are and if you're serious, then you need to be looking a college programmes in your area. There are many ways to learning. But the all follow the same route - one step at a time.

Hello, Christine and a warm welcome to CiC. Thank you for joining.
Lots of people on here are more than willing to share their knowledge and experience to help others learn. So post up images and ask for comments. Sometimes people are not sure about asking for comments and criticism on their images. This thread gives you some helpful advice and guidance about how to get the best feedback from fellow members.
And, of course, ask lots of questions.

Hey everyone, I'm new here. Amateur photographer for around 2 years now. Would consider myself at around intermediate level.
My equipment: Nikon D3100 with Tamron 18-200mm Lens and Tamron 90mm 1:1 magnification macro lens.
Not looking to turn into a profesional photographer. It's just a hobby for me.

Hi, My name is Dave and I am excited to be here. I am an amateur photographer. I love to shoot with my Canon 40D; I have 2 lenses with some basic studio equipment, but I mainly like "Walk around" and "Portrait" photography. Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Looks like a great community and hope to share my interest with members, after many years getting my fingers stained in my darkroom ( Never got to use tongs ) I'm now fully digital, but lack the working knowledge of this new medium and hope to pick it up here. Cameras are Nikon D700 and D7000, some new lenses but still using older ones I used on my film cameras, I like landscapes so tend to favour the wide angles and have picked up the Sigma 17-35mm and Tamron 10-24mm, and like the results from both. I also collect and restore old photos, mainly studio portraits from 1880-1920. Greetings to all and am happy to hear from anyone,
Tony

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi. I have a Canon FTQL SLR 35 MM which I bought years ago. Today I bought a Vivitar Series 1 70-210 Zoom lens at a flea market. It had a Canon protective labeled cap on the interconnecting end of the lens. I know the Canon FTQL takes a bayonet type fitting, but for $5.00 I thought this lens would work on my camera. Unless I am doing something wrong, this lens does not appear to work on my camera. Can someone verify my conclusion or tell me what if I am doing something wrong to connect the lens to the camera?
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi Everybody at CIC !! I am from Delhi and an amateur photographer. I use a Nikon D800 camera, 24-70mm and 80-400mm lenses. These meet most of my current requirements. Nice to be here.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi All
I'm not really new but haven't been on here for a good while now so thought i'd start afresh.
I am an up and coming Essex based photographer who loves to take photographs of animals, flowers, people and places and any that catches my artistic eye.
I love to spend time editing the shots I take, adding my flair to the images and sometimes playing with the contrasts to bring something different to a shot. I also love to crop images to focus on the best elements of the shot and provide a good composition.
Although my photography equipment is currently modest, I make the most out of my lovely little Olympus SP800-UZ and know I will build upon this in the coming years.
I enjoy nothing more than to see my images displayed in a beautiful frame for people to enjoy for years to come therefore my aim is to grow my passion into a small business, selling my framed images and other merchandise.
I also enjoy capturing parties and special occasions and offer a Party Photography service.
I am proud of my photographs and I hope you enjoy them too :D
