Introduce Yourself & Welcome Other Members (archive)

Hello!
I am new to this site (obviously) and can't wait to explore it further. I am an amateur photographer from Cape Cod, MA, USA. I use a Canon DSLR and a Canon P&S and enjoy photographing pets, landscapes, wildlife and all the random bits of life. I'm still experimenting with Photoshop Elements and Lightworks.

Hi guys my name is Marty and I am new to this, just a beginner if you wish. Used to take a lot of photography about 20 years ago with my Pentax 35mm SLR and have just brought a new cannon 60D and this digital thing has me a bit lost so I thought a site like this would help me learn more about it and get me back to taking great shots like I used to with the old stuff, thanks for giving me the opportunity to become a member of this site and over time I will no doubt gain more experience and one day pass it on to others so that the world of photography stays well and truly alive, once again thanks. Hello Pete, and a warm welcome to CiC. As yes, the Pentax ME (super, in my case), my first slr. Remembered with fondness (for some reason I just looked on Amazon - you can still buy the ME Super Book of Photography - second-hand, naturally). However, I have been Canonised (:eek:) for many years now.

I hope you enjoy your time here, and participate in the forums. Hope to see some Texan picture before too long. This is a friendly and very supportive place to be.

Hello everyone, my name is Evelyn but my friends call me Ev~, and I'm from Orlando, Florida. I'm a new member of the Orlando Camera Club and CIC was highly recommended, I must admit so far I've been pleasantly surprised. I bought a T2I Rebel in April 2012 and have been learning through tutorials, books and practice. I have a new Canon 7D, I'm into wildlife photography (mostly birds) and use a 400 mm F5.6L lens and a 70-200 mm 2.8L. I checked out some of the great photos on CIC and I look forward to learning from all the talented photographers. Many thanks, Ev~

So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile (under 'Forum Actions' on the Menu Bar), or you can just press on 'Settings' on the menu bar right up at the top right of the window. Once there you can enter the name by which you wish to be addressed under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts.

Sometimes people are not sure about asking for comments and criticism on their images. This thread gives you some helpful advice and guidance about how to get the best feedback from fellow members.

So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile (under 'Forum Actions' on the Menu Bar), or you can just press on 'Settings' on the menu bar right up at the top rigth of the window. Once there you can enter the name by which you wish to be addressed under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.

First thing - If you want to change your 'Real Name' to that by which you like being addressed, then you can edit that. Then folks will address you as you prefer.

Vivek - I'm very glad that you did find CiC and hope that it becomes an online location that you refer to for advice, guidance, comment and, of course, pleasure.

Hey there, I'm Odysseas (call me Odi) and I'm from Athens Greece. I like amateur photography and I lately use a mirror-less Samsung NX1000with the 20-50mm lens.
The types of photography that I mostly prefer are the tourist photography, outdoor portraits but on top Street photography.
Unfortunately I'm a bit shy for Street photography though :)

If you would prefer that people address you as Odi rather than use your full name, you can edit 'Real Name' in your profile and change that.

I agree and i know that a lot of people feel this way. However, there are also excellent street photographers on here. I know they will always be happy to help and advice about how to best do this type of photography.

Hello to all at the CIC forum from Minnesota, USA! I've been fooling around with photography for 50+ years now. I've shot everything from 35mm to 2 1/4 and now, digital. Current setup is a Sony a580 with battery pack, Sony/Zeiss 16-80, Sony 35 and Minolta 70-210 macro "Beercan". Favorite subjects include faces, cars, travel and flowers. I spend summers in MN and winters in FL so I'm outside shooting year 'round. Other than photography I like tennis, biking, fishing and travel. Can anyone tell me why all of the good photo forums, and magazines, come from England? Is everyone there into photography?
