Hello Everyone at Cambridge in Colour. I am a new member. My name is Ron, and I am keen on photographing Birds and other wild life. I have just bought a Nikon D7100, and I have a telephoto prime 300mm/f4 + 1.4 Teleconverter. I am really looking forward to learn the intricacies of camera settings, and taking good pics of wildlife in general and Birds in particular.
Hope you guys will help me out whenever I cry for help !?
Hello Ron and welcome to CiC. Thank you for joining.
I certainly hope (and think) that you will get the help you want whenever you ask. That's very much what CiC is about. But I also hope that joining in the various discussions and reading what others are saying will also contribute to your learning.
If you prefer being addressed as Ron, you can go to Edit Profile (under 'Forum Actions' on the Menu Bar), or you can just press on 'Settings' on the menu bar right up at the top right of the window. Once there you can enter the name by which you wish to be addressed under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.
Hello to all at Cambridge in Colour. Been dabbling in photography since the early 80s, when i used Pentax film cameras and still have an ME Super tucked away in the cupboard, moved on to digital in 2000 when i switched to Nikon, now use a D700 which spends most of its time with a 200 micro f4 attached to it. I am a very active member of Southampton Camera Club and serve on the committee also on the committee of the Southampton International Exhibition.
Ian - great to have another person with a broad and extensive range of knowledge and experience. As you've maybe seen, CiC is very much a learning resource in which people willingly share in order that we can all learn and develop our skills. I hope you will feel able to do that in, hopefully, a very active participation in the forum.
Thanks for the welcome Donald. More than happy to pass on the knowledge i have gained over the years.
Thanks very much. I'm only just reading this now but I will edit my profile. Lovely images by the way on your website. Its always a pleasure to see good B&W.
Hello every one,
My name is Bambang, I'm from Indonesia. I love outdoors and adventurous travel and using a D90 as my best travel mate- mostly accompanied with manual focus lenses.
It's good to find and join this community and wish that I could learn and share experience with you all.
a big HELLO to everyone @ CIC. My name is Rajib, and I'm from Guwahati, India. I love to travel and make new friends, which I am able to do in my current job as HR Manager at an established Pvt. Sector Bank. I inherited the interest in photography from my father who also shared the same hobby. CIC helped me in a lot of ways to learn about the nitty-gritties of taking good photographs and post-processing.

Bambang, Rajib, Chris - Welcome to each of you.
I hope that you will be able to learn by being part of this forum. Thank you for joining.
So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile (under 'Forum Actions' on the Menu Bar), or you can just press on 'Settings' on the menu bar right up at the top right of the window. Once there you can enter the name by which you wish to be addressed under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.
Rajib - I am very glad that your father's interest has been inherited by you. I hope you enjoy being part of CiC.
I hope you will share your pictures, Chris. And that CiC helps you imporce your knowledge and skills.
By the way - If you wish you can go to Edit Profile and put in your location, so that it appears in the sidebar alongside your message, just like mine beside this message. Then everybody knows where everybody else is.
Thanks Donald ,
just edited my profile
Hello everybody on C in C. I am Pierre, read with interest the tutorials in Cambridge and decided to participate.

Hi , newbie from Indiana (USA), just moved to Windsor (UK) ... quite a change of environment...On film Pentax for 35 years, then on digital Pentax for the last 7 years and still using the old glas beside a 18-250 mm zoom. Only recently discovered the virtues of raw and post processing (DxO Optics Pro software is miraculous and made me friend with digital photography a couple of years back). Currently experimenting with LED lighting for indoor and also outdoor (never used strobes or tungsten before that).
Hello everyone, my name is John Hardy. I am from Pensacola Florida in the USA. I have been interested in photography since I was a teenager, many years ago. I had my own darkroom at the time and really enjoyed working with black and white photography there. I recently decided to renew my love of the art and make it my primary hobby. I have recently bought a Nikon D3100 with 18-55 and 55-200 lenses. I am just learning to use all the bells and whistles, but mostly I shoot in auto mode. After years of point and shoot, I am very excited to be getting back into all of the creativity that an SLR affords. I am also fascinated with post production; photo editors can do so much more than I used to be able to do in the darkroom. I am very excited to be part of this community and hope i will be able to offer a little help, as well as receiving it. I recently took the picture below for my girlfriend. She is very much a fan of Halloween, as you can tell.
