Hello everyone, I am new to CIC, my name is Dawn. I have two Cameras a Samsung Pro815, and a Canon 450D which has two lens - a Canon 24-105mm L series and a Canon wide angle 10-22 mm. I am looking forward to joining in and picking up some tips and advice from other members, not sure I know enough yet to be able to help anyone yet ? I love the tutorials on here.

It's good to have you here and thank you for joining CiC.

By the way - If you wish you can go to Edit Profile and put in your location, so that it appears in the sidebar alongside your message, just like mine beside this message. Then everybody knows where everybody else is.

As to your question, can I suggest that you post it as a new thread into the Image Post-Processing section of the forum. More people who might provide some ideas are likely to see it there than in here. You might find it helpful to tell people:- a) how your rate your own skill and experience levels in using post-processing software (that will help them think of what might be suitable) and, b) what sort of budget you have for what you want, or whether you are looking to use free-to-use software.

Hello Chris and welcome to CiC. It's the people that want to learn that, I think, get the best use out of the forum and accompanying tutorials. There are lots of people on here with lots of knowledge and experience, who will be only too glad to share that with you.

So, please do post up questions, submit pictures and ask fro comment. On that particular point, something you might find useful. Sometimes people are not sure about asking for comments and criticism on their images. This thread gives you some helpful advice and guidance about how to get the best feedback from fellow members.

Tom here, from Florida. I shot film(Minolta,RIP) casually in the 70s and 80s. Just got into digital recently and have been messing around with a Fuji X100 and Fuji P&S. I'd like to keep picking up more of the fundamentals of photography (it's much easier now with the internet) and hopefully giving back by sharing something useful once in a while.

And that, Tom, is the essence of CiC. So, with that attitude, you are very, very welcome. We're all trying to improve our skills and one thing about this forum that I find positive is that people do not forget that they were once very new beginners. So, you don't tend to get the , 'You should know that. You must be stupid', type of post that I know appears elsewhere. If it ever did show up here, we'd blast it right away.

So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile (under 'Forum Actions' on the Menu Bar), or you can just press on 'Settings' on the menu bar right up at the top right of the window. Once there you can enter the name by which you wish to be addressed under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.

Hello Ryan. Just keep remembering - Take it one step at a time and don't try to learn it all at once. Get to know your camera inside-out (what is it you got?). A lot of folks alwats think they can do it without really studying the User Manual. I don't think they can. My manual is falling apart and well thumbed, but I still keep it with the camera.

And, of course, use this forum to ask questions that you can't find the answers to elsewhere. There will always be somebody able to provide the answer.

Thanks for helping me to introduce myself. I am not a photo professional; but I like to take photos a lot, to everything I find interesting. I have been doing this for long time but almost always using camera settings, not trying my own approach. Actually I have a Nikon D5100 with the default lens plus a 70-300 Nikon tele, a Sigma 10-20 wide and a Sigma 150mm macro. I feel very exited but have a lot to learn. Thanks...ah, I am not too young, just 63. But it is never late to learn.
