Janet. Crieff!?!? Isn't that the place they used to make Glenturret whisky? They used to hand out "a wee dram" on the distillery tour :) I don't drink the stuff myself but my dad used to love it. He tells me it's not the same product now that it was then. Beautiful countryside abounds in your area though, as I recall. I look forward to seeing it. :)
Welcome.
Matt.

Hi my name is Arturo I am from Chihuahua, Mexico, I found this site when looking for info and tutorials to improve photography, a few weeks ago I started a Web Page that helps people (in spanish) to learn and improve their photography and this site has very good info, you go deep on concepts and helpful data I hope I can tranlslate info to share it to only spanish spoken people, hope there is no problem with it, of course I will state the source and web link, I started with Point&Shoot from Canon on the superzoom series, then 2 years ago I jumped to my 1st Dsrl Canon T3i with a tele of 70-300 and one 18-135mm lens , then I left the T3i to my daugther and just few months ago I got a MILC from Sony NEX-F3 with an extra accesory EVF Attached to it, I use my camera mostly to record family events, concerts, church events, clouds, moons. This is my recent created site: www.ilovephotograph.weebly.com
Keep up the good work here
Regards
Arturo

Hello, Arturo. Thank you for choosing to join CiC.
That is a very good website you have created. The image from, I think, inside the TV studio is very impressive.
On the question of using materials from this site to translate into Spanish, I'm sure that will be okay. But I would ask that you end a Provate Message to McQ (Sean McHugh) the site owner to inform him of your plan.
I look forward to seeing more of your pictures here on CiC.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Thanks everybody.
And welcome Arturo.

Hello everyone, I am a retired Chief from the US Navy. I have been taking pictures for over 40 years. Now that I am retired I am going to use my spare time to travel and take photographs. I am currently using a Canon Rebel T2i, eventually I hope to sell my photos for extra money. My name is Greg, but my friends call me Chief.

Greg (Chief) - A very warm welcome to you and I hope you very much enjoy being part of the CiC community and that being so does help you improve your photographic knowledge and skills.
There are a couple of ex-US Navy men on board here, most active of which is Richard Crowe (rpcrowe) in San Diego.
You don't say where you are. If you wish you can go to Edit Profile and put in your location, so that it appears in the sidebar alongside your message, just like mine beside this message. Then everybody knows where everybody else is.

Hello all. My name is Dean and I live in Phoenix Arizona, (USA). I work in television broadcasting and have been a shutter bug for over 30 years. I'm on my second DSLR, a Nikon D700. I like shooting most subjects but landscapes and still life are what I enjoy the most. I found this site through a link from another photo website I belong to.
I look forward to learning from you all and hope I can be of help in some small way.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello CiC! I'm fairly new here.
I discovered photogrammetry a couple of years ago, managed to convince my employers that we would get a lot of value from it, and shortly afterwards got them to shell out for a nice new Nikon D7000. I then set about learning everything back to front, starting with principles of photogrammetry, then the principals of photography and am finally taking an interest in the principles of artistic composition etc!
I just bought my own camera, a Nikon D90 and a couple of lenses. I started with a 35mm and wanted to master it before trying anything else, but spotted a 10-24mm at a bargain price and couldn't help myself.
I live in Soham, Cambs, UK, and when I'm not photographing my family I wonder what else there is around here to shoot!
I was drawn to CiC by all the fantastic tutorials and technical explanations, and hope to stick around for the community. I hope to be able to find a way to create interesting images in what feels like a very unexciting part of the world to me, and get some tips on using my new wide angle lens. I am planning to upload one of my first attempts right now!
Thanks, James

Thank you for joining, Marty. I hope that being part of CiC does contribute to your learning. The good thing about this forum, is that the people involved remember that they were once in exactly the same place as you now are in terms of knowledge and skills and, as a result, are always willing to help those less experienced.
So, please feel able to join in with questions, pictures for comment, etc.
By the way - If you wish you can go to Edit Profile and put in your location, so that it appears in the sidebar alongside your message, just like mine beside this message. Then everybody knows where everybody else is.

And that is very much what CiC is all about.
You are very welcome Dean and I hope you'll have a long and enjoyable involvement with the forum.

Great to have you here. And remember. Nowhere is unexciting. We just have to open up our minds and develop our vision to be able to see the interesting bits.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Thanks for the warm welcome, I will send a message to Sean for confirmation on my plan, in the mean time I am enjoying the articles on basics that are so well explained using nice graphics that make it easier.
Best regards
Arturo

Thank you for the welcome. Must have missed it yesterday. How do I subscribe to the subscriptions? I have started an album but am having problems trying to download some of them, it says they are to big. How can I fix that?

Are you meaning - How do you subscribe to a thread, so that you get notifications once a new post has been made into that thread?
If so, then please check if you have 'Thread Tools' showing on the menu bar that sits immediately above the first message in the thread. This may be a feature that only kicks-in after you make a number of posts (it's 5 or 10). If it's there then click on it and you should see 'Subscribe to this thread'. Click on that.
On the questions re albums. It mayve that you need to reduce the size of your images. If you have not re-sized from original RAW file size (or large JPEG, if that's what your shooting), then you'll have a file size that's 3000/4000 + pixels on its longest side. That too big a file to upload. You need to re-size your pictures down to a more manageable size for posting online. I usually take mine down to 1024 pixels on the top edge for landscape style images or 1000 pixels high for portrait-oriented images.
If this is not answering the questions you are asking, then please do come back on this. You would be better putting any subsequent questions on this subject into the Image Post processing and Printing section of the forum to ensure that more people see it than might be the case in this thread.
