Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello there and welcome to CiC. This is a community dedicated to learning and sharing, so you have come to the right place. The best place to ask a question in in one of the forums. For example, if you have questions about shooting (or processing) RAW then ask either in the General Photography or the Image Post -Processing and Printing forums. You'll need to give a few more details though than only that you are not seeing colours.
If you would like feedback on a photograph then, if it's nature, in the Nature and Architecture forum.
This is a friendly place, and it would also be good if you could edit your profile to let everyone know whereabouts you are in world, and how you’d like to be known (in CiC terms your “real name”). To do that, you click Settings (right at top), then Edit Profile (on left) and put your first name in the Real Name field and where you are (roughly) in the Location field. That way, your details will appear alongside all of your posts.
Regards,
Dave
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi all. I'm Gordon from Scotland. I'm 42 and have only taken up photography in the last couple of years, and still class myself as a beginner. I use a Canon 1000D which came with it's standard 18-55mm lens, but have also purchased a 38-76mm and 55-200mm, all f4-5.6 (I think!). I also use a little Sony digital P&S on occasion as well as the camera on my phone.
I don't really have any single style, probably because I haven't found it yet, but hopefully I will learn a few tricks here that might just point me in the right direction!
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi Gordon,
Welcome to C in C, I'm a fellow Scot but now living in Turkey,I am a relatively new member also (last month) and have already learned a few things from fellow members. Will look forward to seeing your posts.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi I'm Tony and just joined the site and the forum. I have taken up photography since retiring and have gradually improved my techniques to the point that I would now like to move on and generate some comp quality images. I have joined a local camera club and this is providing a bit of impetus. I look forward to posting some images for comment as this will be a valuable learning experience for me.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Welcome to the forum Tony,i'm sure when you start posting your images the members will only be glad to help with some c&c.
Looking forward to seeing your images!
Cheers David

Hi Jacek
Your macro shots of flowers (& I saw a butterfly) are really stunning, more than just a close-up. I certainly have need to watch closely what you do.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello, I am new to this site. I am very impressed at what is here. Although I have never been a keen photographer I have always taken pictures. Since I retired a few years ago it has been mainly Landscapes and Wildlife at home and abroad.
I have always loved small capable cameras. I loved my Minolta XT, and we have a Canon EOS 300D, but find that a heavy nuisance although it does take good pictures. My old Olympus 560z bridge camera is on the blink. So, I popped into a Guernsey camera shop (no VAT!) to see if I could pick up a new very compact camera with an (essential for me) viewfinder and a good zoom. I was offered the Panasonic LF1. A tiny camera, no need for a lenscap, no fiddly lenses to swap (7.5x zoom!). I looked at all the alternatives in the shop but to me they were either bulkier, heavier, or more fiddly. Well, the LF1 has been a revelation and renewed my interest in photography. It has many bells and whistles and the panoramas and sharply defined videos are a wonderful bonus. I can easily transfer my photos to my Nexus 7 2 tablet via NFC - even less fiddling about! I am hoping that I can turn my interest into better photographic knowledge and capability. We were so impressed with the LF1 that we returned the shop and purchased a second one for my wife. Thus I am doing the research and passing the knowledge on to her. Here are a few of my best shots : http://www.flickr.com/photos/alyrpal...7594471801322/ , none from the LF1

Delighted to hear that, Alan and thank you for deciding to join the CiC forum. I hope that decision makes the site even more useful and enjoyable.
It might not be everyone's 'cup-of-tea', but I love the openness and airiness of 'Gascony' on your Flickr site.

Hello to my fellow forum photographers. My name is Steve and now that I am retired I want to spend more time learning to take better photos or moving beyond snapshots. I recently moved from a DSLR to a Fuji XE-1 (2 weeks ago), and I am working through the learning curve. Look forward to using the tutorials on this site and also to post some photos for feedback.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello Steve, and welcome. It must be nice to be in southern Florida while some of us are starting to shiver :)
What kind of photography interests you? There are a few togs from Florida around here, notably Joe from Lakeland a bit further north who creates some great bird images.
Look forward to seeing some of your photos,
Regards,
Dave

Hello, my name is Ronnie and I am new to this forum, I'm not quite sure how to navigate through these pages, but I hope to meet new friends and become more involved as I become more familiar with this. (right now its a little confusing).
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello from Tennessee. I hope this turns out to be a no-nonsense place where I can learn some new things about photography. I have what most of you will think of as a toy camera, but I do love my Nikon P510. I've had a hard time coming to digital after many years of film. I hope you tolerate photos to critique and also some just to show. I'm anxious to get in here and see some great photos!

If you have any questions or problems, just call out and someone will be along to help. I hope that you find CiC a helpful online resource to use to improve your photographic knowledge and skills. Lots of people on here are always willing to share their experience to help others along the learning curve. And ... there is no such thing as a dumb question on CiC.
We have a very international membership on here. Just thinking that some folks might not recognise what 'ky' means in terms of your location. If you wish you can go to Edit Profile and edit that to put in the full name.

I certainly hope that you find this the sort of online resource at which you can learn. That is why the site exists. And the people on here who will offer advice, criticism and help, remember that they too were once learning the ropes. Pretentious nonsense tends to get slapped down pretty quickly on here.
If someone is serious about learning the art & craft of photography, then there is no such thing as a ' toy' camera. Every camera is capable of taking excellent pictures. What really matters is the person at the back of it pushing the buttons.
