We are very pleased you decided to join us.

Why not take a few minutes to briefly introduce yourself as a new member, but please do not post images for comment in this thread - it's just for introductions. You are welcome to post one image to demonstrate your photography style.

It can be confusing joining a new forum. The following information may help you in getting established here. We know you want to get started, but reading this will help you get started properly.

POSTING IMAGES - For technical advice on posting photos, please read this excellent guide How can I post images here? please also see; How to Get Effective Feedback for your Posted Images

VIEWING IMAGES - If you are looking for help on viewing images on this site then try here.

YOUR WEBSITE - If you have your own photo website or Flickr page you may put a link to it in your forum signature (see mine below for example). You can also introduce other members to your site in This thread.

LOCATION - Put yourself on our members map on Google. But please check the security aspects when you do this CiC Google map

CONDUCT - The general emphasis here is on support and learning. To do that, we often give detailed criticism on shots, where people have asked for it. We always try to do that in a fair, polite, and balanced manner. We also have a lot of fun on here, making humorous comments with one another. But again, it's nearly always done in a friendly manner, softened with the use of smilies.

If you follow the above guidelines you won't go far wrong. We rarely have a problem with things that are said on-line. However, the Admin/Mod group monitor all activity on this site, and any inappropriate comment will be removed or edited. We urge all new members to read the Code of Conduct FAQ.

NAMES - It's more friendly if you put your first name in your profile so that it appears on your posts. Select 'forum action/edit profile' from the menu at the top of the page. 'Real name' is at the bottom of the page. We suggest that for security reasons you only use your first name.

TUTORIALS - Try our famous tutorials, especially if you have a specific or general technical question. See the menu at the top of the page.

POSTING - Just start a new thread to ask a new question/start a discussion/post your images, but please give some thought to starting it in the correct section. Or just reply to existing threads to join in with a discussion that is in progress. If you are doubtful about posting your work, then please read this How to Get Effective Feedback for your Posted Images The FAQ (on menu above) will give you general assistance if you have difficulty FAQ forum usage

Still stuck? Don't worry, just send a PM (Personal Message) to one of the Admin/Mods. You can find them here Mods To get to this list normally, select 'quick links/view forum Moderators'. As you move your mouse over a name a 'PM' button will appear. Click it for the Mod you want and send your PM.

I've just joined CiC after visiting the site a few times in recent years. I'm a keen amateur based in Livingston, Scotland. I've uploaded some images to an album, Adrian's Images. This first batch were all taken in New York in July 2013. I hope to add a few more images as time goes on.

Hello to everyone. My name is Andy and I live in West Cornwall, England. Have rekindled my interest in photography in the last few months after some 30 years away........how things have changed!!. I have a Nikon D7100 and various lenses and am trying not to get too wrapped up in one particular genre. Found this forum via a tutorial page I found via Google and was so impressed with the tutorial that.....well here I am. Looking to learn and listen and try to emulate some of the superb images I have already viewed on CiC.

Hello all! I am Beth and just found this forum looking for some information on a Monoprice tablet. I have a Canon ti3 18mp. I traded into 2 of my package lenses to get the Tamron 18-270mm lens and love it! Plus I have a pancake that I don't use a lot. I love macro and am saving my pennies for the Tamron 90mm f/2.8 SP Di MACRO 1:1 VC USD L. I am considering the 200-500 mm zoom. I also would like a wide angle and something that would be go for portraits. A family friend has asked if I could do some senior pictures for her daughter and family pics as well. So that is my next adventure.

New thing I am looking at is lighting. I do fairly well with outdoor pics, but indoor is different with that artificial light! I don't have a website for my photos yet - but usually upload them to shutterfly and post them on facebook. I look forward to chatting with everyone!

Having read some of the tutorials produced by CiC, I was most impressed so have decided to join. I have taken up photography again after a break of some 20 odd years. I am keen on wildlife, landscape and macro photography and recently acquired a Canon 7D and a number of lenses. I look forward to participating in the forum and to getting some positive feedback particularly in post processing of images.

Join the club, Andy. When, in 2009, I started looking at cameras after about the same timelapse, there were words like 'Raw' and 'Pixel' and 'Sensor' that were foreign to me. But, after a while, they began to make sense.

hi my name is ney from dominican republic im new in the DSLR word, i love sports like martial arts, i would like to learn how to shoot with out flash, flashes are not allow in martials arts, i own a nikon d7100 with a 18-55mm len I just bought it 3 days ago, i tired to take some pics on manual but pics were coming either dark or too withe, i hope i learn a lot here

Hello Ney, and a warm welcome to CiC.

Especially warm welcome since I think you may be our only current member from the Dominican Republic.

This is a good place to learn, in fact it is what the community is all about. You have an excellent camera in the D7100, with good low light capability, so you are off to a good start.

Indoor sports photography is a rather specialised subject, but I know there are a number of members here with good experience (RustBeltRaw - real name Lex is one). I suggest that you put a question into the "People and Pets" forum and see what help you get. (A lot more people read that forum than this introduction one). When you get some pictures that you'd like to share (even if they are ones that you are not happy with, but would like some help) I look forward to seeing them,

Hello everyone @ CIC, My name is Ram. I am newbie to the world of DSLR's. I owned Canon Powershot point and shoot camera which i havent used much, my main reason to get a DSLR is to photograph my 1 year old son.I bought my Canon 600D/T3i with Canon EF 18-55mm Kit lens and Canon EF 50mm 1.8 II lens 2 weeks back. A friend of mine who is a professional photographer reffered me to this site. Learnt a lot from tutorial on CIC.

This is a friendly place, and it would also be good if you could edit your profile to let everyone know whereabouts you are in world, and how you’d like to be known (in CiC terms your “real name”). To do that, you click Settings (right at top), then Edit Profile (on left) and put your first name in the Real Name field and where you are (roughly) in the Location field. That way, your details will appear alongside all of your posts.

Hello Everyone,

My name is Chris. I'm from Portsmouth, Va. I have been into photography for going on 15yrs. Started out with Minolta 35mm but didn't do much once I had problems finding a lens for it after the one I had came apart and could afford to repair it. I have moved up to a Canon EOS Rebel T3 in the past year. I would still classify myself as a beginner. I love taking pictures. I take pictures so often it drives my family crazy. Lol! I am open to any advice and want to learn all that I can. There isn't one particular object(s) I prefer photographing. There you have it. A bit about myself.
