Hello Advaith and welcome to CiC.
In answer to some of your questions, for example about sensors, please go to the Tutorials section of the site. The tutorials, written by site owner Sean (McQ), are widely regarded as amongst the best that are available on the internet.
I hope you enjoy being part of the forum.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi Donald
From what I've seen so far it looks very helpful.
Many of the Cambridge images I saw on the site looked like some of the hundreds I took when we lived there (well, Bar Hill - not sure if they'd let a Yorkie into the town proper - or my mortgage limit wouldn't). Moved back home to Barnsley 7 years ago - now retired and trying to wear my 7D out so that I can get something newer.
Hope to create a Cambridge folder when I find my way round. Thanks for introducing yourself.

Hi........Came across your forum today while looking for answers to the recent Nik_Google problem. Thanks for the info...I will contact NIK tomorrow.
I have been shooting for many years and work with Nikon Equipment. My main interest is nature and wildlife but all in all, I just enjoy taking pictures. I live about fifty miles east of New York City and am the president of a small camera club which specializes in nature and wildlife photography. Looking forward to being a part of this forum and enjoying meeting some new people.

Hello, my name is Martín, from Argentina. I have a small and new printing company, we work with an EPSON 9890 44", 9 ink plotter.
First of all, I´ve been reading tutorials for 2 hours, and I think who wrote them did a great job compiling the most important subjects in a compact but yet efective and clarifying way (I hope this sounds the same in english as in spanish), so thank you.

Thank you for deciding to join CiC, Gene. I hope you enjoy being involved. as you may have already seen, this is very much a place where people are encouraged to share knowledge and experience so that we can help colleagues learn and develop their skills. I hope you'll feel able to do that.
So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile (under 'Forum Actions' on the Menu Bar), or you can just press on 'Settings' on the menu bar right up at the top right of the window. Once there you can enter the name by which you wish to be addressed under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.

Martin - Great to have you here. And what you have written reads very well in English.
The tutorials are the work of Sean McHugh (McQ) who set up this site when he was a student at Cambridge University in England (hence the name).
I hope you enjoy being part of this forum.

Hello all together, my name is Rainer and I'm from Munich, Germany. I bought a m43 camera some months ago and now try to improve my compact camera experience discovering things like 'shallow depth of field' etc. ;-).
Still some golden leaves for all of us,
Rainer.

Hello everyone at CiC ! My name is JC (Jean Claude). I'm from Québec, Canada. Photography has become my retirement pastime since 2007. I started out with a Panasonic point-and-shoot and after a few trades, I now use a Nikon D800 along with 5 Nikkor lenses and one Sigma.
My preference is landscape photography. I print my "creations" on canvas and sell them as gallery wraps. I just recently acquire an Epson Stylus Pro 7900 and plan to offer a "small" printing service as well. I live in a very rural area where that kind of services is practically nonexistent.
I look forward in participating in your forums as I have so much to learn.
À bientôt,:)
JC

Hi, I'm Ron from Atlantic Canada. I've been passionate about photography for well over 40 years. I've been a dedicated Canon guy from the beginning and currently use a 1dmk2, 5dmk2 and a 7d with assorted L lenses. I'm still learning and I hope to be able to add some of what I have learned to the discussions.
Thanx.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
What professional site this is! Very clear and organized. That will help me do my best here. I am Jim and this afternoon I spent an hour at the Butterfly Conservatory at their Niagara Parks Commission site. It wasn't difficult to get close up shots of these 5000 or so tropical insects fluttering around the building using my Canon PowerShot SD1300 IS

Thank you Jim. That is all down to Sean McHugh (McQ) who established this site.
By the way, if you prefer to be addressed as Jim, rather than James, you can go to Edit Profile (under 'Forum Actions' on the Menu Bar), or you can just press on 'Settings' on the menu bar right up at the top right of the window, and edit your name that appears alongside your posts.
I hope you enjoy being part of CiC and that you'll post up some of those pictures.

Morning all (for those on GMT)
I signed up a few days ago and introduced myself - and I seem to be receiving an invitation to introduce myself everytime a new member signs up.
No doubt I pressed the wrong clicky thing, but can it be stopped?
thanks
Just going out to take some pictures in what may be the last sunny day of the year - until the next one.
Brian

Mmmm! That's an interesting one that I haven't come across before.
I don't think it's the problem, but did you click 'Subscribe to this thread' from the 'Thread tools' option on the menu bar near the top of the page?
Let me consult those who no more about these things that I do and see what can be done.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello Ron - although I seem to get notification when every new member joins (I only joined 3 days ago) - it may not be a bad thing.
Good to meet someone else who enjoys using the 1DMk2 - I picked mine up at Jacob's Photography bankrupt auction last year for around £300 (UK sterling) and it wouldn't work - then I managed to charge the battery and (this is not recommended) - moved the mirror up and down manually whilst holding down the shutter release. After a few seconds it sprung into life. Amazing piece of equipment. Coming up to 250,000 exposures, and still sounding sweet.
I still use my 7D as the work horse.
keep shooting
Brian
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Morning Donald
I clicked on 'NEW MEMBER? Please introduce yourself here' (at the top of this page)
If there's a bug, I tend to find it - and if there's a wrong way to respond to technology - that suits my natural abillity.
I've also just worked out what 'reply with quote' means - but when I try it, I see the original message in a white box, but can't work out where to type my message....
help
Brian
