Hello and welcome to the forum.
So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile (under 'Forum Actions' on the Menu Bar), or you can just press on 'Settings' on the menu bar right up at the top right of the window. Once there you can enter the name by which you wish to be addressed under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.
It's good to have you here and I hope you find this a helpful, as well as enjoyable, online resource.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi all,
Have a good understanding of photo techniques but not so good in execution or composition. Hope to get insight to better enjoy the hobby. Will try to provide input as well.

hi From Christchurch, New Zealand.
I've recently left my job as a project manager to grab photography by the horns, I've signed up for a 1year full time course next year. Christchurch is a pretty exciting place to be a photographer at the moment.
I shoot with a Nikon D600, and slowly adding to my kit as i can afford it. the majority of my shooting is hand held with a 50mm 1.8 and 16-35. I look forward to learning more from here and sharing my experiences!
heres one of my favourite photos, won 3rd prize in the street photography section in Nikon NZ amateur photographer of the year comp.

thanks Donald, updated :)
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi everyone! Just joined CiC the other day, though I must admit i've been through here reading content previously. I'm an amateur photographer and have been doing photography in one form or fashion and on and off since i was a boy. I shoot primarily digital at this point in time but have an RB67 that i still like to play with from time to time. My interests are primarily landscapes, nature shots in general, macro, and architecture. I love black and white but enjoy shooting for color as well. I hope to learn from all the others who are contributing here - so far the interaction i see in the forums is outstanding.

Great to have you here, Chris. Thanks for joining.
CiC is very much a sharing forum. I hope you'll find that people are not precious or protective about their knowledge and skills and are very happy to share in order to help other people learn. That's the whole ethos of the site. So, I hope you enjoy being involved.
And that's a pretty impressive image with which to launch your life on CiC.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Bonjour a tous! Greetings from Montreal, I'm looking forward to joining into the community I've seen here. CiC looks like a great place to learn and grow. I've read many posts over the past few days and have read many pages of the wonderful content over the past few months so I decided to join. Compared to some of the other forums I've seen on the web, CiC looks to be inhabited by genuine (and well behaved) people who love photography and are very helpful. My kind of place! Also, I was really impressed by the international flavour of the site. India, New Zealand, England, Scotland and many other places and cultures represented!
A special hello to you Donald. I think it's fabulous how you welcome everyone. I rarely post anywhere online but the friendly messages from you make it easy to overcome my "virtual shyness". Hope this message finds you well.

Bonjour a tous! Greetings from Montreal
Bienvenue en CiC, Paulo! Well I'm not Donald, just a regular member, but you are right, the poor lad has been working overtime :). Anyway, I'd like to offer my warm welcome to the community. Learning and growing are what this place is all about, I've certainly learned a huge amount since I joined last year, so you are joining for all the right reasons. I look forward to reading your contributions, and maybe seeing some images - what kind of photography interests you by the way?
I also love the international flavour. Apart from the range of contributions, it's nice to wake up in the morning and find new stuff from the other side of the world!
Dave

I really don't have a particular interest at the moment. I've been shooting as a hobby for about a year now mostly focused on proper exposure and post processing basics. More recently on composition. I shoot when I can, on vacation, birds (well, seagulls to be exact, not much variety available without a telephoto!) and even an awards luncheon. Right now I just want to get better all around but if I had to choose I'd say I like documentary style shots and birds.
Thanks Gentlemen, happy to be here!
Cheers!

Hello,
My name is Jeff and I recently purchased a Canon EOS 60D. This is my first venture into the digital SLR realm of photography as previously I just had a Canon PowerShot SX150 point and shoot camera. Many, many years ago I shot quite a bit of 35mm with my Chinon which I still have but haven't used in many years. I have a lot to learn about the new camera and post editing. I'm planning on getting Lightroom on down the road but I need to learn the camera first. I'm excited about this new adventure and hope to learn a lot from the veterans out there. Nice to meet you all.

Hi Jeff,

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi,
I'm Art and new to digital SLR photography. Over the years I've used a Yashica Lynx 5000, Yashica Electro 35 and a Nikon FG, all of which I still have, but almost never use. After a few point and shoots both 35mm and digital I was asked to do photo shoots for a local newspaper. Believe me I'm no expert, I toyed around the edges with my manual 35mms but never considered myself a photographer. The first few jobs I used my wife's Nikon Coolpix L110, then made the plunge (for me) and bought an Nikon D3100. Wow! I have so much to learn. Love the camera and have had a lot of fun using the different modes but want to get a handle on f/stops, white balance, composition and all the rest. So when I ran across this site I knew I found a place where it all comes together. I know I can learn the basics and move on from there.
Thanks for the opportunity!
Art
