Hello Naresh. Thank you for choosing to join this particular forum.
Between the tutorials and this forum, the CiC website aims to be a place where people can acquire knowledge and receive help to improve their photographic skills. I hope you enjoy being involved.
You don't tell us where you are. If you wish you can go to Edit Profile and put in your location, so that it appears in the sidebar alongside your message, just like mine beside this message. Then everybody knows where everybody else is.

Hello All,
My name is Guy, and stumbled upon this great site by accident. I've gone through some of the tutorials, and am impressed. I have some very dated experience in fashion and architecture photography, Now though my primary interest is in learning new techniques and improving my skills. I love experimenting with some of the less centric techniques, like IR and HDR, and the creative freedom to that digital workflows provide. I'm looking forward to having access to the collective knowledge and experience here.

Hello Guy. Glad that you found us and that you like what you've seen so far.
I hope you'll be around the forum for a while and both get somethign from it, but also contribute to help others learn from your knowledge.
So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile (under 'Forum Actions' on the Menu Bar), or you can just press on 'Settings' on the menu bar right up at the top right of the window. Once there you can enter the name by which you wish to be addressed under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts.

Hello everyone,
My name is Damian Guthrie, aspiring photographer. I started my road to photography with a Bell-Howell 35mm point and shoot film camera back in '97 and then just couldn't figure out why my pictures of the full moon just looked like this dot of white light in the sky. I now use a Nikon D200 dslr that I still haven't figured out all of its bells and whistles, but is most fun experimenting with.
I will post some pics and questions later, after I have explored the site a bit more in-depth.

Hello everyone @ Cambridge in Colour... My name is Ashish Verma from Mumbai India. Six months ago I have made a transition from a Sony HX100V point and shoot camera to a Canon Rebel T3 DSLR. I am still learning the basics of photography. I have a 18-55MM kit lens and have recently purchased a 55-250 MM telephoto lens. Hoping to pick up some valuable advise in these forums....Thanks

I would welcome feedback because I don't think you can judge your own photos -- you can only like them, or not.

Hello,
I'm joining the community as I've learned (hopefully!) so much from the site. Can't wait to join in on the banter and continue my lifelong journey of photography fun and learning. I live in California and took this shot down at the wharf in San Francisco.

Welcome from up north of you:) This is a very good place to learn from. It is one of the best forums, the people are the nicest you will find anywhere!

Thanks...looks like my brain will be thankfully taxed learning this site and the ins and outs of posting. I hope your last statement is correct. Many of the posts on other sites are downright cruel and inhumane. I like criticism and suggestions, but put downs are a bummer. I'll be back.

Hello Patrick,
A warm welcome, and glad you have decided to join us. Now you've started down the digital road I think you'll be finding that it is a bit of a different game. No extra cost to shoot an image, and the whole wonderful world of "post processing" on the computer (you'll see that referred to here as pp).
I hope you enjoy your time here, and stick around.
I was in Naples at this time of year a couple of years ago. Wish I was back there now, as I hear the storm building outside.
Best regards,
Dave

Hello Andrea, and welcome to the CiC community.
This place is all about learning and sharing, so if you are looking for answers you are in the right place.
We don't have an astrophotography forum, in fact we don't have very many forums at all - that way you get the biggest number of people reading your posts.
For your question, I suggest that you re-post it in the General Photography Discussion forum, with a title that lets people know what the general subject is. Go to the main forum, and click on the General Photography Discussion tab. Then, when the new window opens look near the top of the screen and you'll see a big bluish button labelled "+ Start New Thread". Click on that, post your question, and wait for the answers to come.
Best regards,
Dave
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Greetings all from the Western side of Washington State in the USA.
I found this site a few days ago while searching the Internet looking for tutorials to learn to use my new camera body (Nikon D7100). I found the tutorials here great. They have already helped me immensely in learning to understand how to use my camera more effectively. Thank you all for providing this excellent resource.
About Me:
My name is Jim Hansen. I'm a nine to fiver, working in mobile wireless as a Network Engineer by day. By night, I love my hobbies. My main hobby for the last 10 years or so has been building musical instruments (mainly Guitars, but occasionally straying into others).
I've always aspired to learn photography, and recently decided to get more serious about it after being gifted the D7100 by a guitar student/lutherie friend.
The camera is a bit overwhelming at this point. I have a fairly decent understanding of the components of the exposure, but I seriously lack the tactical skill to use them reliably in a dynamic setting.
I hope to get some quality time with it over the coming spring and summer months. Hopefully after some extended 'stick time' I will start getting better results in more dynamic situations.
Thanks to everyone who contributes here for a great site. I'm sure I will visit here quite often in my journey.
Thanks
Jim
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello Jim. Great to have you here. And thank you for the comments about the tutorials. Hopefully the experience of being part of the forum adds to the usefulness of the site.

You need to keep reminding yourself that this is the perfectly normal place to be on the learning curve at your stage of development. Your goal needs to be to get so used to the camera that you can operate it in the dark. It needs to become an extension of your hands and fingers. When you've got that, then you can devote all your attention to the picture making and not have to work hard at remembering which dial to turn or button to push. It does take time, but it will fall into place.
I hope you'll always find people on here who are willing to share knowledge and experience to help you on the learning journey.
