Hi all
I'm Kim and have just moved to the UAE from Australia and as I'm not working at the moment, I've got time to improve my photography - it's currently a very 'hit or miss' thing! Anyhow, I've 'lurked' on this site for many months - it's a really awesome site and the forum is so constructive, helpful and supportive. I hope that I'll take a few 'hit' photos that I feel are worthy of being posted. I look forward to being part of this group.
Kim

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi to everyone. My name is Ed and I bought my current Canon T3i about two years ago. I enjoy mostly landscape and travel photography. Being retired my wife and I like to travel and I'm striving to do all I can to improve my skills. I have some photos from our Alaska trip last year that I would like to post later and get any constructive comments. I'm looking forward to spending some time with the many tutorials and learning from others. I presently only use the kit lenses (18-55mm and 55-250mm) that came with camera with fairly good results.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello everyone. I'm Jack, I live in Austin, TX (USA) and have been shooting since my long-gone youth. I'm always trying to learn and grow as a photographer, and I'm hopeful that Cambridge in Colour becomes another good resource for just that.
I shoot Nikon digital mostly, but keep a few film cameras around as well.
My Flickr photos are here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jdn/

Hi everybody, my name is waleed and i live in Dakar (Senegal). I'm very new in photography and looking to learn and share as much as i can :).
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello - My name is Pat. I am joining with you here to learn from you and to get your responses to some of my own questions. I am a Nikon user. My interest is in close-up or macro photography. The Nikon D90 is my camera, though I am just now considering an FX Nikon D610...no matter what is said about DX and Fx in Macro work! Obviously I am in the Enthusiast group and find lots to keep me very interested with lots more to learn.
Thank you for including me in your community.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hey all. Another new member here. My name's Ian and I've been 'playing' at photography for a few years but I'm determined to try and a) get better at it and b) get more of it done. Sometimes it's too easy to say "ah, it's cold/wet/dark/ and I can't be bothered".
I'm another Canon shooter, using the crop sensor 7D. Would like to move full frame but some uneducated lens choices along the way has meant me sticking with crop unless I want to replace almost EVERYTHING at once. A sobering thought.
Anyway, I'll be reading the forum with interest and hopefully getting up the nerve to post an image or two.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
There you go. You disappear for 48 hours and all these new members join CiC. I should go away more often!
Great to have new folks here and welcome to you all

I hope you will, Ed.
If you ever need any help in getting images posted into your message, then please do read the helpful guide that walks you through how to do it. Click HERE to read the thread.
So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile (under 'Forum Actions' on the Menu Bar), or you can just press on 'Settings' on the menu bar right up at the top right of the window. Once there you can enter the name by which you wish to be addressed under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.

The first image you post is always the hardest. You're terrified of what people might say. Just go for it. I do think that CiC is one of the most constructive and helpful forums that is about

You are not wrong. You see some other sites and some poor soul who's trying to learn gets ripped apart in a fashion that would put Serengeti Lions to shame. It certainly makes you wary that first time. What I've seen so far here though does seem to angle more towards helpful and constructive criticism, so I might, as you suggest, go for it.
Thanks for the welcome, and the lesson you learned is? Don't disappear for 48 hours :D

Hi all. I am Ron, a 78 (soon to be 79) year old ex photographer who worked at the big Yellow K. Spent most of my time there as a photographer/technician in a service darkroom and office. Then it was all Ektachrome and TriX now I am entirely digital, and using a Pentax K10D. (Sadly a pension doesn't stretch to a K3, but I'm saving hard!)
I started to use Photoshop in the early days, so have a fair knowledge of the workflow.
Why Pentax? Because that was the miniature camera I used as a working photographer, and I can still use all my Pentax primes.
Not a landscape or nature/wildlife photographer I have discovered, after trying for some years, I now enjoy illustrative and studio work.
OOOH Quick edit - I love manipulating and transforming images in PS

It does at first, Rick. But stick with it, ask lots of questions and it does start to make sense.
Great to have you here. I hope you enjoy it.
