Re: Introduce Yourself & Welcome Other Members (2)
Hello everyone!
My name is Sarah and I'm 24 years old. I live in Indianapolis, IN with my husband of 5 years (yes, I know I was very young when I got married, but at least I chose the right guy). I have always loved photography, but am only just now really exploring the art and technical aspect as a serious hobby/career opportunity. I work with a Cannon SD1100 IS right now, but am researching DSLRs for purchase (www.digital-slr-guide.com has been a very helpful tool, but please feel free to share advice since I am a beginner).
I just had my first "official" photo-shoot this past weekend with some friends at a local park. One friend wore her wedding dress as she recently got married, another plays the cello (some of my favorite pictures), and the other just looked gorgeous in the autumn colors. It was so much fun!!! :D I took over 1200 pictures and will be posting some of my favorites on here soon for some much needed advice (and compliments if you're feeling generous). :)
I've really loved reading the other forums and tutorials on this website for a couple weeks now, not to mention the beautiful pictures!
Looking forward to getting to know others and learning a lot through this website! Please feel free to ask me any questions about myself or my photography.
Sarah

Welcome to the CiC forums from me, it's great to have you join us.
Sounds like you had a hoot on the shoot :)
Can't wait to see the results!

Re: Introduce Yourself & Welcome Other Members (2)
Greetings and salutations,
Thank you for publishing such a fantastic site. I used to shoot a Canon EOS 35mm camera. I was OK for a casual photographer. I played around with a dark room for about a year, but it didn't survive my first marriage. I bought a small digital point and shoot for junk shots, but it never occurred to me to attempt to take good shots with digital until recently. I am now looking for a good digital camera. As a real estate guy, I have a passion for architecture. That is what attracted me to this excellent site.
I am considering a lower middle price DSLR in the Nikon 5000 range, and possibly a small super zoom camera in stead of a telephoto zoom like I used to have for the same price and weight. I mainly used the telephoto for candid party pics.
Will something like the Nikon 10-24 zoom be as good as my old 18mm rectilinear lens?
How do the new panorama capabilities that all the digitals seem to have stack up against a wide angle lens?
Nikon seems a better choice than Canon at this time, but I still see plenty of debate on that.
Thanks again for the great site.
Ed

Hello to all those budding photographers out there. I am new to this site, ie, 5 mins old. I feel like I've been in the embryo stage for far too long and its now time for me to spread my wings and fly.
My name is Kathryn and as you can see I'm a Lady (licenced to kill) that is some beautiful photos only.
I have a Canon 450D which has served me beautifully in taking great photos but I'm looking at improving my skills by learning more about not only the camera but myself as well. I believe taking a photo is an extension of who I am because when I take a photo, its a particular scene or image that appeals to me.
If you would like to have a look at some of my work, have a look at www.kermitcrainean.blogspot.com and let me know what you think.
i am looking forward to becoming involved on this forum and reading about your knowledge with a view to expanding mine. cheers,

Hello everyone,
I am a relatively unsure "photographer" still amazed at some of the facts in the tutorials and in rapt admiration for those of you who can obviously do great things with a camera. I hope that over time I will pick up some great tips from you. I have a Canon EOS 450D, an EOS 1000D and a compact Nikon Coolpix. I really like the EOS 450D, seems very professional. I have also got a Canon Speedlite flash as well as a diffuser dome for it. I have stuck a few photos on Flickr as well as Geograph and am always trying out a few things - some work, some don't. I do most of my editing using the Canon disk which came with the camera, but I also use the online Picnik as well as one or two of the disk based editing programs. Look forward to reading further. Best wishes to you all.

Hi Ed,
I have the Nikon D5000, but I went for an 18-200mm to retain the same 10x zoom range I was used to with my bridge camera - so I've no experience with anything as wide as 10mm, but if I can help on the camera, let me know.
"Real Estate", so I'd guess US based? Whereabouts?

Hi mikeyT,
This place can certainly be an inspiration, so have a look at the galleries and/or post some of your own pictures.
When you lose something, it is often a good idea to retrace your steps, what were you last photographing when mojo went AWOL? ;)
Hope to hear/see something from you soon, but in the meantime, welcome to the CiC forums from ...

Welcome to the CiC forums, entrance is free, but I would kindly request the 'donation' of your first name ;)
Colin has already covered the usual stuff I might say, so I'll just do the formal; welcome to the CiC forums from... me and let you get on with the shooting :)

Re: Introduce Yourself & Welcome Other Members (2)
Hi All,
I've been reading some forums on here for the past few months and wanted to join in on the fun!
I'm an American living in America (how typical)! I've been shooting film on a hand-me-down Canon AE-1 as a hobby-ist for about 10 years. I've just recently bought a Nikon D5000 thanks to some of the advice I picked up here, and working a bit as a portrait photographer with a company that used Nikon D70s & D80.
I love the new camera so far, and I'm really enjoying the forums and photos on this site. I have my first solo portrait gig (on location... here's to luck  !) this weekend, and I couldn't think of a better time to join a photography community. Hopefully I'll have something to share after the shoot.
Thanks for being so welcoming. See you in the forums! :)

Hi there "betuwefotograaf",
It would be good to have a first name :)
You certainly have some interesting and photogenic misty mornings in holland, nice shots.
It is fortunate that at this time of the year, we don't have to get up so early for sunrise!

Hi Mike, sorry Captn Mike,
Glad you like the camera, the D5000 looks to be quite a popular model :)
Good luck with the shoot this weekend and I hope to see some of the results (although don't get yourself into trouble posting the studio's client pics here if you shouldn't be, I know some places can be 'touchy' about that, depends on your contract I guess).
Anyway, good to have you join us after a period of familiarisation and I look forward to hearing/seeing more from you soon.
Welcome to the CiC forums from a fellow D5000 owner.
Cheers,
