Re: Introduce Yourself & Welcome Other Members (2)
I consider myself an amateur photographer although I have been shooting for over twenty years. I currently use a series of Nikon cameras (Nikon D60, P90, S220) for my photography excursions. I typically shoot landscapes but also like to shoot candids.

Hi Shadowman,
Welcome to the CiC forums, great to have another member.
I notice from the above you have both a Nikon P90 and a D60; we had another member (Warren, I think) asking recently whether he should get a P90 for his daughter, or a D3000 (arguably a D60 replacement).
It would be interesting to hear your views on DSLR vs Bridge camera ;)
Once again, welcome from me,

:) Hello All -
Found this site while searching for HDR tips and was very impressed with the tutorial section! Been interested in taking photos for a many years but only got serious mid year of 2008 when my wife & I bought a Canon 40d. We played around with it for almost a year and then started taking on small jobs to fund the hobby. We are trying to improve our CS3 skills in processing the photos. Looks like we will learn a great deal here.
Merry Christmas Ya'll!

Hi Clint,
Welcome to CiC - it's great to have you here.
There's a couple of good books that I could recommend to help you get up to speed in CS3 if you're interested?
Do you have any books already?
Re: Introduce Yourself & Welcome Other Members (2)
Hi Clint (and Hi Jamie in case you're peering over hubby's shoulder :)),
I've had a look at your website - as you probably guessed ;)
You have some good pictures up there, although I could only see one picture in each sub-gallery - is that right?
Nice ethos for the site too; it feels sincere if you know what I mean.
Probably the biggest thing that puts me off 'earning a bit to fund the hobby' is keeping the paperwork in order foir the 'tax man', I find being in a full time job keeps it nice 'n' simple! Lucky me, these days!
Anyways, welcome to the CiC forums from ...
Re: Introduce Yourself & Welcome Other Members (2)

No, I do not have any books. I would be open to checking some out though.

I had to look up the word ethos...:)
If you move your mouse to the corner of each "book" a page will start to flip. Just click and it will turn to view more photos. I may add directional arrows to make it easier. Thanks for the feedback!
Working full time is a blessing these days.

Hi Clint,
Scott Kelby has an incredible market share of this market. Three things in particular that I'd recommend are ...
- The Adobe Photoshop CS3 Book for Digital Photographers
- Scott Kelby's 7-Point System for Adobe Photoshop CS3
- Scott's Online Training Videos
It's easy to under-estimate the value of resources like these. To put it simply, if you invest in these resources - in terms of anyone needing help in getting up to speed with common image processing techniques, it's simply "job done".
Re: Introduce Yourself & Welcome Other Members (2)
Hello everyone.
I just joined CiC. It seems so interesting and I hope to learn a lot. Eventually I will share my very little knowledge, hoping it will be useful to somebody.
My main interest is in B&W landscape photography. I shoot in digital with a Nikon D300.
Giuseppe.

I hope I used it correctly :o
Ah, now I see what you mean about the page turn, that's bizarre; I tried several times and in different galleries without success, now I have seen it work, I can only assume I must have missed the 'active area' by only a pixel or two :o
Yes, mouse-over arrows to give a clue further from the corner would be helpful.
Best regards,

Hi Giuseppe,
Welcome to the CiC forums, great to have another member.
If you have any questions, by all means ask, or post some photographs.
Best regards,

Hi all,
I am Sunny from Singapore. Happened to search for Night Photography and got myself into CiC. Have been taking photos for quite a few years and more of taking it for own consumption.
Sometimes I do take Actual Day Wedding Photography and Commercial Events. One of the major work which I have done in 2007 is a Travel Journal, which you are free to take a look.
Please be advised that this is a huge PDF document.

Thanks.

Hi Sunny,
Welcome to the CiC forums from me, great to have you join us.
I assume you have by now you will have seen Sean McHugh's stunning shots of Cambridge by night? (but if not, that was the link :))
Regarding the pdf, thanks for the warning about its size, I have added that after the link in your post.
I have had a quick look (at less than half), two things strike me;
it is well written for someone to whom English is not a first language and,
I'd like to perspective correct quite a few of the architectural shots.
That said, you have some nice photographs there and all that getting up early definitely pays off ;)
It also reminds me of several Italian coach holidays I had when (much) younger, so I am actually going to read the whole thing later :)
Bye for now, but I hope we see/hear more from you soon,

Hello all, I'm Ashooor from Egypt. I photograph with Sony DSC-H20. and I'm going to have a XTi.
I have been learning a lot from CiC tutorials since I knew it, and this is my first day participating in this forum. and I just LOVED it :)
Another Newbie Photographer
Hi -- My name is Nancy (TheAdChick) and I live on the west coast of Florida. I have been a graphic designer for many years but am a new photographer. I haven't take any formal classes yet but I have taken many on-line courses and tutorials, I posted a handful of photos today just to get things going. I admire the talent I have seen on this web site and aspire to improve my knowledge and artistic abilities. Thank you for providing such inspiration and the tutorials. They are a wealth of information for all.
Re: Another Newbie Photographer
Welcome, Nancy. I've already looked at a couple of your pictures and I must say you are quite good at photography already.

Re: Introduce Yourself & Welcome Other Members (2)
Hi Dave,
Thanks for the compliments as well as the link. :)
I will definitely continued to stay on this forum as well as to contribute where possible. Most importantly is to learn and exchange pointers. :)
I am planning for a Photo Journal middle of next year. I am planning to visit Eastern Europe and there will definitely be lots of photo opportunity for me. :p

Hi Nancy,
I was also quite impressed by the compositions and quality of your album, and I went through them all, well done.
I feel like saying "not bad for a graphic designer" as you set yourself up for it, but that would get me into trouble;
1) I don't know you well enough to insult you yet, and
2) Colin, the other moderator, will have me writing lines as punishment "I must not insult new members", 100 times over ;)
Good job I only thought it and didn't type it here then :):D
What sort of camera and lens(es) are you shooting with?
Anyway, time for me to say:
