Man, I really don;t come into this thread as often as I should.
SO....I just want to welcome all the new members over the past few months.
I have been here since April 09 I believe or so, and have learned so much from the people on here.
Remember, there is never a bad or stupid question, we are here to teach each other.
Cheers
My name is David and I am just getting back into photography. I enjoy photographing beach shots at Morro Bay. I am trying to find info on filter adaptors. I obtained many filters when a filter manufacturing shop went out of business. Many filters are 62mm non-threaded. I am looking for an adaptor to use with my Canon Rebel 58mm lens. So far I have found about 12 different filters that will work. I can hold them up over the nens when taking shots but it is an akward proceedure. Does anyone know of a adaptor that might work? I am looking forward to reviewing posts on this forum. Davied
Hi David & ...Doughboy(?)
I am a student photographer & new on here too see post above. David it sounds like you need a drop-in filter holder. They have them at B&H Photo, I saw one for $90-odd. Some will take different sizes but others need the specific size if it's a screw-in filter. No doubt Adorama & other places have them also. I know Walmart are making serious moves into photo equipment.
Good luck

Greetings,
I am a recently retired science teacher. I have been taking pictures (snapshots mainly) for years. I recently updated my equipment to a Canon 7D with a variety of less expensive lenses. I now have a 40D for a second body. I also have an old Canon A1 somewhere in by closet.
I live in NW Montana at the base of the Mission Mountains south of Flathead Lake. During the summers (since 1978) I have worked in Glacier National Park as a naturalist, ranger and currently a volunteer. My summer home is the remote Bowman Lake campground with No electricity or cell phone service but lots of beautiful country (and just a few mosquitoes)
Photography is a hobby and I am constantly trying to work on the basics. I am working to improve my macro techniques and general photography skills.
Stitched my first panorama last week and posted it on this form. Thanks for all your positive comments.
Hi, I am anuschka from the Netherlands.
Decided to join because of the in depth information I found on CiC I knew already from Pbase.
Yesterday I decided to once and for all get my color management right so I can predict the outcome of my prints.
Rented the Gretagmacbeth device from my photoclub but first started reading and learning here so I understand what I am doing.
Photography has me by the throat I am afraid and I love it.
I use Nikon D300 and various Nikkors.
Hope to learn and maybe even to contribute.
Cheers.
Hi and welcome to all the recent new members - great to have you with us.
Sorry that I've been a bit busy to keep a closer eye on this thread and offer you all individual welcomes
Hope you'll all enjoy your time here; don't be afraid to ask or to contribute something - it's what keeps the momentum and the community building!
Hi I am Randy, had been bitten by the photog bug years ago. Finally, with the purchase of a dslr started going toward a part time gig. I have now done my first wedding. While the family raved on the pics; I realized that I have aways to go before I satisfy myself. I have now also taken Senior Class pics for a few people and booked 2 weddings for this summer.
Right now use a Sony a200. I am considering a switch to Nikon before I grow my lense collection and accessory items.
Hello to all picture taking people.
Photography and computers, what a lovely combo.
This is me, Noel. I am over 73 and not a newbie in photography.
I have been using cameras since I could walk! Plus a long stint as a prof.
Processing etc was all done with chemicals, papers etc and the learning was continuous.
Australia is a great country, of course, but we are in the highs of summer.
Love to learn and watch others do their thing.
I may be able to help here and there.
All email will be replied to.

Hi Noel pictlover2
Have seen some great photo work come out of Oz. Wedding Photographers especially. I notice many of these photographers' folks seem to originate in central Europe & I'm not the only one to notice. Not that we others lack talent, it's just ... well, I noticed.
Glad you are offering help as I need it, & it's great that so many give such appropriate help. So many talented people on this forum.
Regards
Nihia
Hi Gary
Another retiree here at 73, past pro (rural) and old hand with a camera.
Haven't the money to waste on the 'new' digital toys.
Learn't the old old way and find that it is still the same 'rules', of thirds, selective focus, composition, filters (?) and so on. Depth of field etc etc.
We learnt to shoot fewer pics and be better at all the techs. No Photoshop in those days.
Now that I have Elements I can at least get a more satisfactory 'finished' result.
Love the site here. No Ads !!! what a delight, and, the tech notes in the tutorials, spot on.
Hot in OZ at the moment.
regards from Noel.
Hello from the Dallas-Ft. Worth, Texas area. Been taking pictures for over forty years. Used to do my own darkroom work. However, I am still an amateur photographer. I really like my Canon 20D which I have been using for the past four and a half years. I am hoping to get my hands on some of the latest technology from Canon pretty soon. Is the 1Ds Mark IV coming out next January???
I did 35mm film for years and kind of lost interest when I lost my darkroom. I have been taking a few pictures with a Sony DSC-H9. As long as I didn't print to large and look to closely, it's not too bad. It got my interest in photography started up and I appreciate that.
I look forward to learning and associating with like minded participants. I will be asking lots of questions and visiting often.
I am 63 years old and live in Houston, Texas. I write database applications and work from home. Married for 42 years and love golf and cycling (bicycles), watercolor painting and cooking.
Hello, my name is Jorge (George).
I'm an amateur photographer from Spain, and I'm very glad to join this forum.
I have an olympus dslr (e-510) and some lenses like the zuiko 12-60mm, the zuiko 70-300mm and other manual (OM) stuff.
Regards
Jorge
Hello "CiC", as you all call it! For a couple months now I've been using my Olympus Evolt E-410 with two lenses it came with (14-42mm f/3.5-5.6, 40-150mm f/4.0-5.6).
I knew absolutely nothing about photography until I got interested in programming and eventually programmed what us CGI people call an unbiased path tracer.
examples:
DOF3_directIllum_1h.pngDOF3_boxAperture.png600s.jpg37m_1201s.pngCB3-Spheres_light_curved.jpg
In order to program this, I needed to learn as much as I could about photography. the science has amused me ever since. The art, however, is what I have been struggling with, and continue to pursue.
Hi ... My Name is Schnaninski I am a budding photographer. My experience is one year (11 photo assists.) I just now "earned" an Olympus E 20 on a barter job. I know that it's an older cam ... with impeccable precision. I need to learn how to take pictures in manual. Any suggested reading ? ... All of my "public" work is at http://heatband.com/gallery
I also designed the site. I want to learn how to improve on taking low-light shots. I have been adjusting my limited ISO settings(80-160-320) Any suggestions ?
Hello everyone. Been lurking around for a few weeks now and have found this site MOST useful. Thanks for hosting it!
Well...I'm located in Soddy Daisy, Tn...just above Chattanooga. I fish a few local tournament trails and love the outdoor. This past summer I was elected as a media officer in the biggest trail we have here and loved the job. Bought a Canon Power Shot and was pretty happy with results.
I've always had a small passion for photography. The wife and friends have pushed me into pursuing it on a more serious side....so, with that said. I purchased the Nikon D5000 and a starter studio light package by Neweer. I'm excited to jump in and post photos to get critiques and learn all I can.
I'm turning 40 next year and thought it best to get on with it..LOL. Pretty much work full time as a Plant manager and between that and fishing, I'm going to have to really dig in and learn as much as I can. I would love to make a few bucks here and there doing this!
Well..enough for now....back to reading for awhile.
