Hello all, my name is Ian Major but I use BroXn_ReflXn as my screen name for all of my online activities. I've been into photography for about 12 years now, however I have just recently started taking it much more serious. I shoot portraits, landscapes and architechture mainly and I really enjoy the HDR process ritual. I hope to spend much time here at CIC and learn a lot.

Welcome to the group. Would like to see comparative photos from both cameras to see what the issues with the D90 are.

Hi, I am a new member here. I live in the Netherlands, have been photographing for years and recently bought a Nikon D90 after thinking long and hard about micro 43 systems. Still too many disadvantages in my view (price, image quality), but I see myself buying into the system in the not too far removed future.
My other camera is a Ricoh GX200, which I find great for macro work.

I have visited the CiC site on several occasions in the past and decided to join today in order to enjoy full access to this wonderful site. I live in the U.S.A., retired for 20 years, after a 25 year career in law enforcement. Prior to that I served in the U.S.A.F. for 4 years, and fortunately was assigned to RAF Alconbury, about 20 from Cambridge, for 3 years of that enlistment. During that time I became very interested in photography and learned to process B & W film that I exposed by using the photo lab on base. My equipment is primarily Nikon, and 90% of my photography is now digital, currently PP in PS CS5, also use Lightroom 3 and NX2 on occasion. My first name is Don.

Hello everyone
I have been lurking in these forums for the last couple weeks and decided to join today. 15 years ago i was really in to photography but after several moves and not enough time my camera and lenses were sold (for cheap if i remember right). I started getting the itch again a few months ago while taking walks with my wife. We walk so slow that i started to get bored and actually pay attention to my surroundings! So i jumped in with a 7d body, 17-85mm f/4-5.6, 55-250mm f/4-5.6, and a 50mm f/1.4. I tried to stay on budget a little with the lenses until i know what stuff i really want to shoot. As my username implies, my first name is Paul

Hopefully, you will have already discovered that things are done in a pretty informal way around here. But that doesn't detract from the enormous and generously shared knowledge and experience that also lurks about. Look forward to seeing some of your images.

Welcome to the CiC forums from me, great to have another Nikon user, I was looking at primarily 4/3 vs Nikon and went with D5000 last May (2009) for the same reasons, although I can't see me going 4/3 or micro 4/3 until the D5000 becomes too heavy to lift Especially now I have 'committed' to Nikon with a total of 3 new bought lenses, plus another 4 old film AI ones.

Anyways, that's way too much for the intro thread, so I'll pipe down and ask a question, if I may - what sort of subjects do you most enjoy photographing?

If you're occsaionally using NX2, I guess you're also a Nikon shooter - leading to the inevitable question (from me) of; what camera and lenses do you have and what do you take pictures of?

Having looked at the first link, you certainly are more interpretive and artistic than I. Your website's not bad either!

Your 50mm lens, is it auto focus or manual?

Hi! I am just starting to learn photography by myself and received as a gist from a friend a Canon EOS Dogital Rebel XT. I used to shoot with a point and shoot camera and the new one seems so complicated. i have a 50mm lens and would like to know what can i do with this lens and what other lens i have to purchase in order to have a variety of possibilities....

i am trying to study from the manual but i feel lost ... any advices?

Well I think my wife would certainly be getting bored if she wasnt catching her breath when i find something interesting. She's a wee bit pregnant.

PDX is the airport code for Portland Oregon. We portlanders are too lazy to use our own city name.
