I'm Rick in RI; originally from Boston, so that makes me a Transplant to RI; been here for several Years and love it here; it is peaceful in my town.

I've been a Landscape Photographer since I had my first Brownie Camera at the age of 11. I now Shoot with a Canon SX-130 Powershot; I upgraded from a Sony Digital.
I have been Shooting Models for several years.

Hi, I'm Jim and "kinda" new to photography. By "kinda" I mean that my last SLR was bought in 1980 while stationed at RAF Lakenheath, U.K. That can best be described as "mildly serious hobby photography" and devolved to Point & Shoot simplicity. When my daughter gave me her old Olympus E-420 about 6 months ago, something awakened and I am again "hooked". It did not take long, maybe its been there all along. I don't think I'll ever be a "Pro", I just want to learn the craft well, produce a few memorable photos and have fun doing it. I am intrigued with wildlife photography and birds in particular. Because of the lens selection, I purchased a Canon 60D with a 28-135mm and 100-400mm lens. Geese, have I ever a lot to learn!

Well, I had a look at some of your work and me thinks you're not doing too bad

You seem to know what makes a good photo and while you've not always been 100% successful with that (I know I'm not, none of us are), I can see you've beeen trying. Some, scratch that; Many of the bird feeder photos are excellent. You can see my "learning curve" in my signature

Hi, I am from Wisconsin. I live in Clintonville, about 35 miles West of Green Bay (Go Packers). This year was an exceptional year for birds, but alas I bought my Canon and photo hide too late to get them all. The Olympus had a 14-42mm lens and getting close was impossible (at least for me). I am currently building a floating hide for waterbird photography.

Hi Dave! Thanks for the tips. You're a great moderator! By the way, I forgot to answer your question about the wide angles I bought. Well, I'm very shy (stingy?) so I decided to go for a Tamron AF 10-24. I actually wanted to buy the real Nikon equivalent but after reading a couple or reviews I decided to give it a shot since it costs almost half the price. What do say?

Hi all - nice to be here since I found your lovely forum. I currently onw a selection of Canon kit - D7, D20 and G10 and particularly like landscapes and wildlife. Living on the Cornwall coast means lots of seascapes, but I get to the hills when I can. The most recent trip was China - frustrating a. due to weather and b. due to guides harrying you away from good locations (and I won't be able to face a takeaway for months). My next project is a website - watch this space. Roger

HELP REQUIRED!!!
Hello and good day to everyone, after recently turning 40 I have finally taken the plunge and invested some hard earned cash into photography equipment.

I have played at it for some time but now I cant spend my weekends down the pub without suffering for the rest of the week! I decided I'd better find something else to do and as photography has always been a passion I could think of nothing better.

SO to the help part!
I have purchased a nikon d7000 and a Sigma 150/500 Lens along with a decent tripod.
I have other lenses from previous nikon SLR

My CRY FOR HELP comes from the assistance I beg of you to advise me what set up and settings I should use for getting action shots at Silverstone F1 races (im there for 3 days 40th bday present)

Any help would be greatly appreciated as at the moment I feel like ive got the gear but no ****** idea!!!

I'm Stephen and am reasonably new to photography. It was a 10 week evening Adult Education course I did a few years back that sparked my interest in trying to compose a photo when I take it. I particularly like to take close up photos of wildlife. I also enjoy taking landscapes and turning them into panoramas.

The forum idea is a great one and I'm enjoying the experience already.
