Your doing well Ang! Nice self-portrait too by the way (I see you got that sorted). Man, if I'd put up a self-portrait as an avatar 'm sure that people would be leaving the site in droves and claiming warranties on their broken computer screens!

Your comment about carrying a camera reminded me of a quote I heard from a famous photographer (can't remember who though) - he said "I always carry a camera with me ... it makes it much easier to take photos"!

Seriously though, I have no idea but I'm sure if I can post pics (SPs) then everyone else can too. I'm the shyest, least photogenic person I know (which is why I'm the one behind the camera).

Thanks for your posting about wide angle vs. normal filter differences. I'm an image enthusiast--photo and video--with a Canon XTi and an old Digial Elph SD700 IS. I take lots and lots of bad pictures, which I blame on my equipment. I've got a new toy that's energized me--a Tamron AF18-270 F/3.5-6.3 DiII VC--and am shopping for a 72mm UV filter to protect the lens. Looking at kits too and I'm not sure if I should care about vignetting enough to buy wide angle. Or if 72mm DV filters will work (my sony HDV is 30mm, though). Your post suggests not to worry much about WA. Comments?

I like to joke about one of the advantages of high-end gear like the Canon 1D3 is that it allows photographers like me to capture up to 10 mistakes per second! (expensive ones too!).

Hi Ross,

I just got myself a 72mm filter for a similar lens (see my auto sig), I went for a Hoya Pro1 Digital, a sort of middle of their cheap, mid, expensive ranges. Came from (in my case) a UK Amazon reseller, very happy with it, quite slim but has a thread on the front for another filter when need be (e.g. C-PL). It doesn't vignette at 18mm (that I have noticed), but that probably says more about the lens than the filter.

If this is ment as a complain then i suggest you make your text more friendly to read.
Make use of capitals, interpunction etc.
I, and lots of people, do not make the smallest effort to read a text whitout structure.
I mean this much more friendly then it looks at prima facie, i 've got problems to express mood.

Hi all,

I was really pleased with the quality of information supplied by the CiC site. I felt dwarfed while reading the tutorials and seeing how much care and diligence were taken while writing them and moreover the way it is presented, has really impressed me. Seeing that, I felt more than happy to find that you can even interact with other people and become a part of this effort through this form, therefore here I am introducing myself and greeting everybody.

I am a male from the middle east, ashamed to say that I was trained as a financial analyst, but currently immersed in agricultural investments. I live in Jordan, work in both Syria and Lebanon and spend my free weekends trying to relax on the beaches of Turkey, so I am a true middle eastern.

We have lots of things worth shooting here, therefore, I feel that my Sony Alpha 200 will be quite busy in the coming few weeks. I am a total beginner in this field but my friends say that I am a fast learner, I used to shoot a beretta silver pigeon before turning here to shoot with my Sony Alpha. Unlike the silver pigeon, I do not use my Sony to shoot clay discs flying fast over my head, on the contrary, I am more focused on macro photography, but the overwhelming scenes in my region compel me sometimes to shoot nature and some landscapes. My draw back is that currently I have one lens, the standard one supplied with the camera an 18-70 mm lens.

Looking forward to learn from you and begging for your tolerance and forgiveness for my remarks and questions that may seems naive or misplaced.
