Hello everyone,
My name is Gilbert, been reading Cambridgeincolour for quite a while(~3yrs). Just recently joined the forum just to learn more about photography. Even more accurate, concept photography. Basically ideas not done by any photograpers. I recently bought a 30d body, I had a 50mm 1.8, 85mm 1.8 lying around in my old camera back. The way I see it, If I can do enough damage with a 30D with those glasses then I am worthy of buying a high-end camera. See you all at the playground!

Hi Gilbert,
Welcome to the CiC forums, great to have you join us.
What sort of photography interests you?
You have a couple of reasonable fast primes there, a little different to most people's slow zoom.
With a will and some imagination, I'm you'll produce some good shots.
If you have any questions, ask away and we'd be pleased to see some pictures.
Regards from ...
I, personally would love to do more concept photography. From landscape, humans, animals, objects, many more. So far though I have been helping with lighting portraits. Here are some of the stuff my buddy and I have been doing.

I have some galleries going on my site as well. Right now I just want to go solo and do amazing things by myself, Learn a new photography technique, etc. I know it sounds wild or crazy but that's how we become unique.

Recently retired from Public Television, and fascinated by the world of digital photography. Just now learning about GIMP, RAW, aperture, shutter speed, lens choice, etc. etc. Using a Canon Digital Rebel with adapters to add-on old Olympus SLR lenses.
Thanks for hosting this site. It is a great educational resource!

Hello I'm a newbie to this forum and I love the tutorial in photography. I hope I can enhance my photography skills since I'm new to this stuff and I only have a Nikon D40.

Thanks for the welcome Donald, Dave. You guys must come and visit and I will show you many great sightings and have some good wines too! Dave I am having difficulty in opening an album to which I can post some pic's! I have read about it in FAQ, but my Control panel doesn't seem to have a link to Albums or Pictures.
Incidentally Dave, I have posted a few of my pics under my name(Butch Robertson) on a site at http://pixmag.ning.com/photo
Hi, I'm Bob. I live in the North East UK (Cleveland). I like landscape photography and Seagull photos.....strange....yes, but that is me. I will also point my camera at anything which happens to catch my attention. I love taking photos, and have done since the age of 20 (I am now 59). My camera is the Canon 1Ds MkIII. Lenses are Canon EF 24/70 f2.8[COLOR="Red"]L. Canon EF 70/200 f2.8[COLOR="red"]L IS. Speedlight 580 EX II Flashgun, and various odds and ends.....oh....and also an empty bank account.
Hi Butch,
CiC itself doesn't host members pictures in albums or galleries. The only gallery that exists here is Sean's personal one of Cambridge. he built the site, so it comes with the territory!
To show us pictures, the best bet is to have an account at PBase, Flickr, or ImageBucket, etc., one that allows "Direct Linking", so we can see the images within the posts, this usually involves a small annual fee. As an alternative to that, you can use an ad-hoc free hosting arrangement we have with ImageShack, here's some text I wrote previously on how to use it.
Hope that helps,

My name is Hogan. 52 years old. Live in small town a few miles south of Edinburgh, Scotland. I use Nikon D300 & D70. Gave up professional photography 10 years ago, after 20+ years in the business (studio portraiture & advertising work - No Weddings!) when I used a Mamiya RZ67.
After a 'Reggie Perrin' moment when I realised that I spent my working life dealing with people, and if the truth be told, I'm not really a people person, I quit, and now work in relative peace and quiet as an analyst (to the other people in the office, I'm just the grumpy old guy who doesn't join in any of the 'team' activities, keeps himself to himself and doesn't play well with other children )
I spend my spare time now bird watching (well nature watching really...) , and trying to photograph some of the things I see.
I am happily married, (and have been for 25 years) to the Mother of my two daughters (24 yrs & 21 yrs) and live with our seven cats, all rescued moggies - my wife is a soft touch when it comes to abandoned, neglected or brain damaged (yes - we have one of them!) felines.
Anything else you'd like to know, just ask. If I want to tell you I will, and if I don't, I wont!

Hi Hogan,
Thanks for the intro post here.
We're a similar age and have the same number of daughters, although I have a son too.
You, or your wife, have 3 more cats than I/my wife/kids do, but I can balance that weight wise with 2 dogs
I'm also now a Nikon shooter and share the interest in birds and bees, etc. while on forays out with the camera.
