A very warm welcome. And well done for starting right in with one of your images. A lot of members might miss your image in this thread. If you want comments on it, you should re-post it as a new thread in the Nature & Architecture part of the site. Just go into that section and towards the top left of the page you will see 'Post New Thread'. Just go there.

Hello all;
Heather from Minnesota here. Always loved to take pictures, now am slowly working on turning it into something more then a hobby. I've done a few senior pictures these last couple months for my daughter and a few of her friends. But still have much to learn!
Thanks, Don. I have a Nikon D3100 and three lenses -- an 18-55mm, a 55-300mm, and a 35mm prime lens.
I have been perusing the forums over the past few hours, and I am amazed by both the wealth of information and the willingness to help. Really excited to stumble upon the CiC community.
Hello All
I am a very inexperianced newcomer to the advanced photography world. I'm seeking basic to advanced instruction and general knowledge. I'm retired and living in Grass Valley, CA. located in the Low Sierra. I travel throughout the US and other parts of the world with varied interest in subjects large and small. Deserts, Mountains, Waterways, Animals, Plants and Architecture. Thank you for the opportunity to join your group.

Heather - This is the place to do it. With the tutorials and the knowledge base of so many people here on CiC, there's a huge pool of help and support available. So please do take part - ask questions, join discussions and, of course, post up some of your work.
I hope you enjoy being part of the forum.
A very warm welcome, Harry. Thanks for joining CiC.
The knowledge and experience a large number of very competent fellow-amateurs is always available on the forum. All you have to do is ask for the help and support.
I hope you find that it's that sort of community - one where people do share and where constructive advice and guidance is always available.
Hello all!
My name is Jenny and I'm from lovely rainy Ireland! Have always been interested in photography but being a lowly student hasn't allowed me to move up the ranks from a compact camera to DSLR...yet! This site looks great and I look forward to learning as much as I can about photography!
Jenny - Hello from an equally rainy Scotland (sorry that your first reply on CiC is not from some sunny, exotic faraway location that truly shows the international flavour of the forum - but Glenfarg will have to do!)
A student of what?
Anyway, you are very welcome. I hope you enjoy being part of it.
CiC's great strength, I believe is the ethos and culture of learning that pervades the site. People are not primarily on here to bolster their own egos or to show off how much knowledge they have. Instead it's about highly skilled and artistic people being willing to share their knowledge and skills to assist and support the learning of others. That's why I joined in the first place and it's what keeps me here.
Hi, my name is Johnson Lee from Foshan, Guangdong, China, a beginner in digital photography, hoping to learning something in the community. I'm using a Canon 7D, what i like most is macro, though landscape is also one of my favorites. Expecting to learn something here.

And I hope you enjoy being part of this online community.

Hi everyone, I'm from Sale, about six miles south of Manchester UK. Married for 26 years but no kids yet! We have two cats. My first "decent" camera was a Chinon - a 21st gift from my sister. In Jan 2007 I looked at DSLR's and decided on the Nikon D80. I had the opportunity of taking photos for a private nursery (Free of charge) but was then asked to take photos(paid) for their website. So, having bought lenses for the D80 I upgraded to the D7000. This has now developed in me taking the majority of photographs for their 3 nurseries and, some of their "Schools Out" clubs and childrens portrait work from parents. I've done 4 weddings and have 4 booked for next year. I have a very supportive wife and friends who have allowed me pursue a dream.
Hello
I am a new member from Suffolk. I have recently taken up photography as a hobby and accidentally found this site along with the tutorials which I am sure are going to be of great help to me. I'm hoping to learn enough to improve my skills and the resulting images. I have become a member of a local photography club and enjoy entering their competitions. I find all the different settings on my camera very confusing and I am open to any advice on the subject. I love taking images of wildlife and I have also become a member of the RSPB to try to capture the different species..with my camera of course.

There are a couple of folks on here who show us some tremendous dive images. I'll hope you'll join in with that.
So, I hope you enjoy being part of the forum and that it does indeed help you improve as a photographer.
By the way, so that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.
