If you have specific questions, such as this about equipment, then what you should do is go to the 'Digital Cameras and Equipment section of the forum and, using the '+ Post New Thread' button towards the top left, write a post in which you as your specific question(s).

I think you need to be a bit more specific than you have been in your question above. For example, what is it you want to know about digital SLRs? Are you asking current users on SONY NEX cameras to give you their opinion on how well the cameras perform?

Asking specific questions will help people provide answers that will be most helpful to you.

It makes me proud to introduce myself in your screen throughout the world, My name is Mrityunjoy Chatterjee residing at Hooghly District in West Bengal State in India. I’m in a very mediocre Bengali Brambhin (priest) family. I’m living with my parents and my wife.
Professionally I'm an Engineer working in an MNC Telecom firm in saltlake, kolkata, Photography is one of my passions and I feel it from my heart, I love this. Fully armature till now, whereas I started my photography with an analogue camera” hotshot” since when I was 15years old, lots of experiment have been done and it also continues, but there was a gap of something.
At this right moment I own a Canon A470 and an EOS550D with 18-55mm IS kit lens.
I love to shoot different subjects but with specific interest in mainly landscape, closeups and expressions of people life and culture of India My favorite landscapes are mountains, sunrise, sunsets, and roads.
I'm here to filling the gaps of shortage of conception on photography and I hope I can carry on counting on your attention to give me your advice, because I would like to improve my skills in photography... I still have a lot to learn.

Welcome to CiC, Don (from another Donald). If you are able to (and I think you should be) you could download the user manual and start getting familiar with the camera now, even before it arrives. And when it does arrive, it's all about practice, practice, practice until it feels just like an extension of your hands and operating it becomes an unconscious activity. that takes a bit of time, but it's worth putting in the effort.

Anyway, I hope this forum does prove to be a helpful resource to you and I hope you will indeed post up some of your work for discussion. It's one of the best ways of learning.

Hi all

A very informative site, thankyou.

I'm relatively new to "serious" photography and climbing that steep learning curve!

So far my journey which started with the camera (Canon 450D and Tamron 18 - 250) has led me to the black art of post processing (I'm currently using Picture Window Pro after fiddling with PSE9 and GIMP), and after requests from family and friends, to that even darker art of printing (Canon Pixma Pro9500).

I look forward to contributing when I learn a bit more.

Hello and welcome to CiC. Doesn't look like you've made any mistakes so far! The one thing you could do though is tell us your real name. You'll find that that is what most of us use on here. You can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name', just like you entered 'Western Canada' under 'location' when you completed your profile.

You can get to 'Edit Profile' by clicking on 'Forum Actions' on the menu bar above. Once you're in that, scroll down to the bottom and you'll 'Real Name' Just put your name into that window.

Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts.

I hope you enjoy being part of CiC. The one thing to remember is that this is a not a site where you have to know everything before you start taking part. This is a place to learn. And you only learn by making mistakes.

HI, I'm Steve
My photography interests are very limited. I am not an outdoor type person, my main interest is in studio lighting/portrait photography.
My biggest problem is having all the gear but no permanent studio space. Most sessions are within my lounge, the setting up and taking down is a real pain.
However, I hope to post some recent images here soon.
