My Name is Archie from Tillicoultry Clackmannanshire in Scotland. I have a 7D and have been been into photography more seriously in the last few years. I take images of nature, opportunities and most anything.

Great site, lots of good infomation for beginners. I am a retired commercial pilot. I flew in the Alaska Bush for a dozen years. Then went to jets and finished up as a Level D simulator instructor. The one thing I always regretted in all my flying was the lack of photos. During the time I was actively flying the technology was all film and trying to get pictures in the dark of winter and temperatures down to 70 degrees F below 0 was a challenge. I just started getting back into photography using a Canon T2i with my Apple macBook Pro and PSE10.

Looking forward to learning as much as possible.

Now, I'm guessing, but I suspect that's not your real name. So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can, if you wish go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.

Thankls for posting up the link to your Flickr pages. I like the Moharram (is that your real name?) in Hyderabad gallery. Some very interesting stuff in there.

I'm sure you'll find that people on here are very willing to share knowledge and experience to help you learn and develop your skills. And, of course, one of the best ways of learning is to ask questions. And that is encouraged here on CiC.

Good Day

My name is Marc and I live in Pretoria, SOuth Africa. I've always liked looking at good pics, but recently bought myself a reasonably proper camera.

I originally got introduced to photography through my Dad's Pentax 35mm, and I had a 35mm (Brand name eludes me now) which was unfortunately stolen.

After this I had a couple of Samsung, Nikon and Sony Cybershot digital "Point and shoot" devices.

I recently (about 6 months ago) bought a Nikon D3100 and have just completed a course on the basics of photography, which has sparked an interest in learning more! A little knowledge is a dangerous thing, but not half as bad as a lot of ignorance! :-)

I look forward to learning from the experienced individuals on this forum and, who knows, maybe one day I may just be able to impart some of that knowledge to others...

I’m Gabriel from Romania. I’m just a hobbyst, I never earned from photo. Technical background allows me to easily understand the settings of my expensive photo toys and their use. Composition, (time for) practice and pushing some “artistic pop” are the challenges for me. I joined CiC for learning, because the site philosophy appears to be far above the pure commercial reasoning.

I am a commercial studio photographer since 1980. My own studio in Albany New Zealand is running smoothly in these "hard" economic times - everybody seems to need to advertise to stay ahead - and that is what I make - commercial images mainly.
However I also share my knowledge and infrequently guest tutor at tertiary institutes, tutor a correspondence course in photography, sometimes write articles about the technical bits of photography.
Joined the CiC to add it to my "resources" and take it from there. Cheers.

POSTING IMAGES - For technical advice on posting photos, please read this excellent guide How can I post images here? It tells you all you need to know.

VIEWING IMAGES - If you are looking for help on viewing images on this site then try here.

YOUR WEBSITE - If you have your own photo website or Flickr page you may put a link to it in your forum signature (see mine below for example). You can also introduce other members to your site in This thread.

LOCATION - Put yourself on our members map on Google. But please check the security aspects when you do this CiC Google map

CONDUCT - The general emphasis here is on support and learning. To do that, we often give detailed criticism on shots, where people have asked for it. We always try to do that in a fair, polite, and balanced manner. We also have a lot of fun on here, making humorous comments with one another. But again, it's nearly always done in a friendly manner, softened with the use of smilies.

If you follow the above guidelines you won't go far wrong. We rarely have a problem with things that are said on-line. However, the Admin/Mod group monitor all activity on this site, and any inappropriate comment will be removed or edited. We urge all new members to read the Code of Conduct FAQ.
