Hello everyone. Me: Wife to a great chap, Mum to three fantastic children, Lover of all things Coastal, Living by the Sea. Photography: I am a very enthusiastic begginer in digital photography. I have just made a small step from my little point and shoot to a Panasonic Lumix G10 (micro 4/3rds sytem). I have loved photography and beautiful images for as long as I can remember. I have a lot to learn and I am looking forward to my journey with you.
I hope you find CiC a helpful place to learn, Stephy. People on here will always be happy to help answer questions or give advice, so please do hesitate in asking any questions that you may have. And, of course, please do post up some of your pictures for people to comment upon.

Great to have you here and thanks for joining. That's a pretty good step-up you've made. I haven't got it, but from what I've read, the G10 is a very good piece of equipment.
I hope CiC can be a useful learning resource from you. Between the tutorials and what's written here on the forum, there's a lot of information. But, of course, there will always be questions that you have to which you can't easily find answers. That's where you come in - Just ask. People are sometimes nervous about asking questions on a forum like this. Please don't be when you are on CiC. That's what this forum is about - learning. There is no such thing as a daft question on here.
Hi.. My name is Vignesh and I am from Bangalore, India.. I have been fascinated with images and cameras since my childhood and have always loved to be the one who is capturing the image than being a subject! I did not have much opportunities to explore photography until about 4 years ago when i got a Nikon P80 point and shoot. Soon I realized that i had hit the limits of a point and shoot and upgraded to a Canon EOS 550D with an 18-55mm kit and a 55-250mm about a year ago. And, as I am exploring this whole new world of possibilities with DSLRs, this forum has answered many of my basic questions and even trickier ones. I found the tutorials here to be very helpful too. I am glad to be a part of such an inviting forum and intend to learn a whole lot more. Thanks!
I have been into photography since I was 12 years old (which was about 61 years ago) so I guess you could say I'm an old-timer. Worked in photojournalism from the early 1960's until the mid 1970's. Also worked in commercial photography for a number of years. I have been retired since 2002. Been shooting with Nikons since the mid 1960's. Have lived the majority of my life in the Southeast corner of Wisconsin.

So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.
I hope this forum can help develop your interest in photography. If the bug does indeed bite, you may quickly find that using your mobile camera quickly becomes too limiting and you want to extend the technical capability of what you use to capture images.
But in the meantime, you can develop your artistic abilities to concentrate on things like subject matter and composition. You certainly don't need expensive gear to develop a vision and style.

Hi, My Name is OZ, and I like photography a lot, but sometimes I need to find motivation to keep going. I hope this community will help with motivation and tips. I am in the NY area and probably I will find lot of themes for photography.
Hello Oz and welcome to CiC.
I certainly hope that being part of the forum will help fire your passion and keep that well stoked. You might find that participating in the competitions gives you the drive you maybe feel you sometimes lack. They're there for fun and bit of light competition, but mainly top help people post up images.
You've maybe seen that most of us tend to use our real names on here. It makes communication more friendly and CiC is that sort of site. Hi, my name is Francis, I live in northern Alberta, Canada, love nature and landscape photography, switched to digital 2 yrs ago and have a Canon 450D and use my FD lenses with an adapter since the new lenses are so expensive, favorites: 19mm, 24mm and 100-300mm, I have a lot to learn about photography and this looks like the right place, I particularly like your forum and plan to participate.
Thank you Francis, and I hope CiC does prove to be the resource that can help you develop the knowledge and skills that you want.
I'm glad you like the style a 'mood' of the forum. It certainly is a place where you can ask questions and expect to get a civilised and constructive reply.

Hi my name is Lukas. I've joined CiC a couple of days ago checking tutorials and then joined because I've already experienced helpful feedback and again thanks. I like to shoot everything that catches my eyes or my interest. I shoot mainly with Canon 5D (50mm or 70-300mm) but I also really like to shoot with analogue cameras like Yashica(MAT-124G) Pentacon(six TL) and other.
Anyway nice to meet you all.
Hi I live in Wigton Cumbria North West England, retired manager in the construction industry,I've done photograpy for some years but never took it seriously, since buying a Canon 60D and some lenses just last year,I thought it time to learn more about photography, I've just bought a set of 85mm square filter kit soft grads by SRB-Griturn,
Reading the Canon mag theres plenty of info on useing this type of filter system but yet to see the method of taking exposure,"IE"before placing the ND Filter, say on seascapes does one take a reading from the dark areas then apply the filter/filters
or any other method one should use, Many Thanks Taffy 44
