Welcome Neil. Ah, the OM10! Very fond memories of mine.
Welcome Neil. Ah, the OM10! Very fond memories of mine.
Hi folks,
I've been around cameras since my grandparents gave me my first one, some half a century ago!
These days I shot digital but I don't have (and never have had) any specific genre or style. I'll take a shot of anything!
I'm currently pursuing a Photo 366 project which involves taking and uploading to a specific collection every day for a year.
I'm currently on day 114 and I'm determined to finish it.

Matt - It's great to have you here and thank you for 'signing-up'. I hope you already have, or soon will, arrive at the view that CiC is a resource that can help you learn and develop just as much as you want. So whether it's about the equipment (congratulations on the new purchase by the way), or about the images you get out of it, there will always be someone on here willing to answer questions, give advice, etc.
Hello, My name is Horacio, I'm from Argentina. My camera is a Canon powershot S3 IS, I want to upgrade it but not sure if APC format is for me or micro four thirds is just enough. Can't decide yet.
Read you around.
Hello everybody,
Just now joined in the group. I am from INDIA,a beginner in the photography ,so far got the knowledge using the click button of a camera only .. not more than that ... Gone through the web for the fundamentals of the photography and found the present site was very informative and interesting. Now already learnt more about features of my camera.. interested in portrait photography.Confident of mastering in photography with the tutorials and by the suggestions , experiences and advises from co-members
Hello Horacio and welcome to CiC.
I think upgrading is something you do once you know that you really want to and then only when you are sure about what you want. You should not rush into it. The most important thing is that you enjoy your photography with the equipment you have and that you develop your knowledge and skills with that camera.
Hello and a very warm welcome to the forum. I hope you do find that being part of CiC does help you learn more about photography and that your knowledge and skills grow.
You've maybe seen that most of us tend to use our real names on here. It makes communication more friendly and CiC is that sort of site. Did you know you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.
Hello Everyone, Have taken photography while in school. I have also Kept up here and there taking photos of anything and everything. Just recently upgraded to a Cannon Rebel T3i. Have two lenses EFS 18-55mm lense, And I also picked up the EFS 55-250mm. Not to sure If I should've picked up the Cannon 50 or 60 D series Camera. Started out my digital photography with a Cannon powershot A620. I found that it was a great camera for taking only certian types of shots. I decided to make the upgrade due to increased intrest, and the need to have greater shooting options. Looking posssibly to make a new occupation out of a old hobby. Always looking for criticism on any photos that I have posted. Look forward to meeting many of people on this website...TTYS
Hi all
I'm an 87-year old geriatric and have dabbled in photography for most of those years. My Nikon D7000 is my 5th digital (2 of the earlier ones having been "redistributed" as we say in S Africa). I have tried to post a photo that recently won our club "Set Subject" picture. Don't know if that worked. I have also developed a short XLS file for determining Depth of Field, Near and Far focus points and Hyperfocal distances. How might I make this available to CiC members? My Handle will be "sgeralds"
Hello and welcome to CiC.

Did you know you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. Hello Gerald and welcome to CiC.
In relation to you having tried to post an image, this is the only post showing against your name so far so, no it didn't work.
On posting images, please do read - HELP THREAD: How can I post images here?. This guides you through every step of the process.
If you wish to share a file with members, the best way, I think, is to upload it to a file sharing site such as www.mediafire.com. You can set up a free account, upload your file, capture the URL link to that file and then note the URL in a message posted on the forum explaining what it is.
As well as, hopefully, you benefiting from the exchange of knowledge and information on here, your knowledge and experience will be shared for the benefit of others working their way along the learning curve.
Hi to all CiC members
I am very new to this and have never been part of any forum. Not pretty sure how and what to do. This Forum looks like a very nice place to chat, gather info and obtain help.
I am an amerture Photographer, busy doing an internet based Photography course. I have one passion in life, and that is PHOTOGRAPHY! Not being able to pursue this career earlier in my life, I only now have the oppertunity at the age of 51! They say, "YOU ARE NEVER TOO OLD TO LEARN".
I am sure I can learn a lot from the members out there and I am looking forward to interacting with the members.

Nerine - a very warm welcome to CiC. Don't worry, there are lots and lots of us 'mature' types on here.
If you have any questions about using the forum, then please do just ask. So far as posting images and asking for comment is concerned, then please do have a read of these two threads:

CiC is very much about supporting fellow enthusiasts in their learning and development. So, any and all questions are welcomed. I hope you do enjoy being involved.
You don't say where you are. If you wish, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your location so that it shows up alongside all your posts, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.
Hi Donald
Thanks for the warm welcome. I have just completed my Profile info. I am in South Africa, in a city called PORT ELIZABETH. It is on the East Coast of SA.
The whole Forum concept is new to me and I feel a bit confused. Pretty sure I will figure it all out as I spend some time here.
Hello All,
I am Harshal from Melbourne Australia. My background is Indian. I am living in Australia since last 8 years and settled here permanently.
Few friends talking over lunch about focal length and Aperture (I had no idea at that time what they were talking about). I googled it, found it interesting so followed it to rabbit hole and opened myself to an amazing world. I am really fascinated by technical details associated with photography. It is simply amazing.
This is the best site I found for understanding the nitty gritty, of how every single aspects of photography hang together.
I have Nikon D60 which I bought it 3 years ago and using it till now. I invested in 18-200 lens as well as 35mm F1.8 and 105mm F2.8 Macro (got it just yesterday).
I have no particular style when comes to taking pics. I am exploring all kinds of photography.
One of my friend motivated me to start a photo blog just to take my hobby to next level. I did that last year (No followers so far though )
Here is the link to it if anyone is interested.

I am feeling so great to be a part of this amazing club, which is full of great people (I read lots of thread and peoples response was just amazing), wealth of knowledge.
I will try and stay in touch.

Hi All,
My name is Andre and I live in South Africa. I am not completely new to Photography but do have the desire to lurn a lot more than I know now.
Seems to me this is a good place to learn from others.
You folks will have to excuse me from time to time but I am still "technologically disadvantaged".
Got no idea how to open a flikr account. Will have to find out by trial and error how to post in threads.
I am not a fan of too much PP in photography and still believe it is better to do it right the first time. I do believe camera manufacturers spend so much money and effort to make cameras as advanced as possible, to make it more user friendly for the Photographer.
Hope there are others sharing this point of view.
Now let me see if I can add a photo........................................ See it failed.
Thank you for the opportunity to be a member of this community.
Hi to everyone,
I live in Newmarket, England just a few miles from Cambridge.
I've had a variety of camera equipment over the years, most of it, like its owner's photography, very amateurish.
I don't want to carry too much around with me on walks with my many dogs so I have a M43 camera and lenses. Panasonic GH2, two Panasonic lenses, Lumix G X 14-42 & 45-175 power zooms.
I can just about change a lens while kneeling on some dog leads but it may be only a matter of time before I lose a lens or a dog...
