Hi Marie,
Welcome to CiC.
This is a great site; with a nice group of people, all willing to help each other.
I look forward to seeing some of your work.
Hello All,
My name is Jon and I'm from the midwestern USA. I recently purchased a Nikon D300 along with photoshop CS4. I have been doing film photography for over 30 years and just started in the digital world. Just the other day a friend of mine told me about using the HDR technique which brought me to this site. There is a wide range to my photographic interests so I am looking forward to learning, sharing and meeting others.
Hello Jon and welcome. You're joining quite a lot of other people who shot with film and them moved over into the digital world.
Great to have you here and I hope you enjoy it.
So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.
Hello my name is Don. I have been involved with photography for over 40 plus years; and at one point my wife and I own and operated a wedding photography business; Which help put us through college. Most of my experience has been involved with film photograpohy, both 35mm and medium formats. I now look forward to advancing and educating myself into the digital world. This the first website I have ever posted on; as I was impressed with it's professionalism.
Hello Don, welcome to CiC and thank you for your comments about it.
It is very much aimed at being a learning resource, part of which is that those who are able will hopefully share their knowledge and experience with those who may be further back on the learning curve. I certainly hope all that experience you have will be made available to others through your contributions on the forum.
Wonderful to have you here and thank you for deciding to sign-up.

Cheers from the Motor City. My name's Lex, an intermediate photographer from Detroit. I used CiC's tutorials extensively when I started getting serious about digital photography, and now I'm interested in learning more specific lessons. I'm here for critique and suggestions, and I'm eager to improve, so there's no need to pull any punches.
I learned on my dad's old Canon A1, then moved up to a secondhand EOS Digital Rebel (300D) for a few years. My current camera is a Canon 60D, which just took its 10,000th image. All of my in-service lenses are Canon USMs, including an EF 28-135mm f3.5-5.6, EF 20mm f2.8, EF 50mm F1.4, and EF 100mm F2.0. Obviously, I like prime lenses, and use them wherever possible.
If I have a specialty, it's low-light photography. I do a lot of work indoors, including shooting for the Detroit Derby Girls roller derby league, building interiors, and urban exploration. Recently, I've started informal work with volunteer models, which is seriously different from my usual static subjects. I want to be as versatile as possible, so I shoot new subjects under new conditions wherever possible, and almost never turn down a chance to shoot something unique.
I'll close with one of my favorite shots, from the Globe Trading building in Detroit's Atwater district. Looking forward to working with CiC!

Hi
My name is Mike S and this is my first post to this site. I am an amature photo enthusiast and enjoy editing in Photoshop.
Here is a recently edited sample of the type of work I do. For now I think I will just explore the site and try and learn the ropes.
I assumed by the New Member instructions I could post one image as a sample. Hope I got that right...
