Hello,
My name is Jacob and I am from Western North Carolina. Photography is a new-found hobby of mine so I don't have very much experience. I have, although, found the information on this website very interesting and informative. I look forward to learning more about photography and being apart of the CiC community!

Hi! My name is Betsy and I live in Vermont near Burlington. I've been a serious amateur for the past three years. Vermont is full of beautiful scenery that one just can't help themselves from trying to capture it! My favorite things to photograph are clouds, children who aren't posing, and insects. I hope to go back to school one day and get a degree in meteorology. Currently I am using a Canon Rebel XSi which I love. I would like to upgrade at some point but I realize how lucky I am to have this one. It is basically an extension of my arm most days. I know my camera in and out manually but there are things that still mystify me such as light metering and shooting RAW. I use Lightroom 3 which i like better than 4 (!) and working with RAW seems to only be a better option some of the time. I also am working on ways to look at things more creatively so that I don't just have the same ol' sunsets or landscapes as everyone else! I look forward to reading threads in this forum about anything and everything photography
http://moonshinephotography.smugmug.com is where I am putting my "best" stuff at the moment!

Hello all:
I found this site through the recommendation of a fellow photographer and am glad that I did. Appears to be packed with information and wonderful, inspiring photos. I'm a serious amateur (which, by my definition means someone whose equipment is smarter than he is) and am always looking to learn something new and to improve my techniques. I'm a semi-retired college music instructor and love to travel. I've never figured out whether I travel to do photography or do photography in order to travel. Looking forward to being a part of this very interesting community.
Hi folks my name is Shelton and I got the Photo bug when I moved to China in 2008 for work. I had a simple Casio point and shoot back then and soon found I needed something better to capture all the amazing stuff I see as travel around Asia. For Xmas 2010 I gave myself a present of a Nikon D5000 and went about snapping the world without too much knowledge of what I was doing. Wasn't long before I realized that equipment alone doesn't result in great pictures... so I took an online course and have been doing lots of reading to improve my skills. I have been browsing this site for a while and find the content useful.... lately I have taken to capturing empty benches in public places around Asia...not an easy task in China...here is one I took recently during my lunch hour
Hi!
Justin from Kansas USA.
I am just a hobby photographer. I love to read about photography, but have no time in my busy schedule to take formal classes. Your tutorials have been a great tutor, and I refer to them often. Many thanks.
I shoot a 60d with various lenses and an S95.
Regards
J
I've been looking at some of the great tutorials here and have decided to join. I dabbled in photography earlier in my life with a 35mm Pentax (film), then resorted to Point and Shoots while my kids were growing up. Now I'm back into serious photography with a Nikon D700 and loving every minute of it. I'm taking classes, am involved with our local photography club, and am out shooting every chance I get. Thanks CiC for your great support!

Hi I'm new here and would like to say hello. I'm Kitt, I live in Bedfordshire UK, I love photography, but would love to learn how to do it properly. I just bought a new compact camera and I'm exploring ways to learn how to use it.
Hi Kitt (Debs),
Welcome to CiC. What camera have you bought? If you can let us know the model and what level of experiance you have then we will be able to help you more.
Don't forget to get posting some of your pictures and let us know what you were trying to acheive.
Great to have you on board.
Welcome Rob,
out of interest what kit are you using; Point & shoot / Bridge / DSLR? It just helps if we know what you are shooting with, so we can give specific, rather than just general advice.
Great to have you with us, I'm looking forward to seeing you pictures.
Kind regards
John
