Hi Padmaraju,
Welcome to the CiC forums from another ex-engineer, not retired yet, just moved into IT
I see you have made a second post in this thread with a picture.
Pictures are best in one of these two forums for critique;
Nature & Architecture
People & Pets
You may also find these useful for getting the image bigger than the thumbnail;

My apologies for this belated welcome, I have got a bit behind and I'm playing "catch up" tonight
Best regards,
Hi Barry,
Nice picture, as you may see from my reply to Padmaraju just above, for critique you are much better off posting in one of the other forums, together with some words.

Welcome to the CiC forums from ....
Good day all.
My name is Luc, I am 40 years old and I live in french-speaking Quebec, Canada.
I have been a geek pretty much all of my life. Video games, pop culture, sci-fi, etc... If it's geeky you can be sure I'm interested. I've recently set my sights on photography as it allow me to combine my love for technology with a creative aspect.
I got a Nikon D3100 body along with a 60mm macro lens and I have been having tons of fun with it. Just last thursday I treated myself to a 35mm f/1.8 along with a 55-300 telephoto which I am dying to try out!
Anyways, I, like many other people, am looking to learning the ropes as digital photography is pretty much sucking in all of my free time right now.
Can't wait to exchange with all of you!
Hi Betsy,
Wow, nice picture - and many more on your site too, I do hope you come back to CiC and get past your first post.
A new camera won't necessarily improve your photography, as you're doing quite well as you are
I recently bought a jpg only camera for long distance wildlife, but unlike you, I am really missing my RAW

Hi Luc,
Warm welcome to the CiC forums from me, you slipped in while I was catching up with a few days worth of missed welcomes - at least I got to you within 15 minutes, so not long to wait
I got the 50mm and wonder now if I shouldn't have got the 35mm, hope you enjoy it.
All the best,
Hi All!
I'm Tania from Brisbane Australia. I am trying to further my skills to make my business a success and enjoy my photography even more! I'm always keen to learn so any advise is greatly appreciated. http://www.facebook.com/Tania.M.Photography
I have just purchased my first dSLR. Until now I have been using a Panasonic FZ40 but have been disappointed with the results. After reading about the differences between SLR's and digitals, I took the plunge. So now my reading is about f-stops, focal lengths and ISO. The more I read the less dim I become (I think), but I still have a huge amount to learn.
I am fortunate enough to live in the lower part of New Zealand's South Island so I am spoiled for scenery, and there are two beautiful grand daughters living not far from us so many portraits will be taken.
I intend to "breath through my nose" for a while. I will follow threads and hopefully learn heaps. Once I am reasonably confident I won't make a complete fool of myself, I will contribute.
The cambridgeincolour website is a wonderful resource and I am sure the forums are populated by friendly people keen to share their experiences and knowledge so they should be a great place to learn and share.
Welcome, Old Cromwell. I'm pretty new here also. As far as making a complete fool of yourself, I've already done that. I still can't post a photo so it show up large, always a thumbnail. The moderator has given me plenty of advice, but my computer don't co-operate. Can't wait to see some images from you with your new camera. Happy Trails
Hi All. I'm Terry Kirby. I live in Livingston Scotland. Moved up here after a life in the Forces. I decided to buy a camera. As a basic photo taker. I got myself a new Cannon EOS 650D. So I joined this site to get some helpful tips on how to use it . And to get the most out of the photographs I take. So look forward to using the site.
Hi Terry,
Like you I'm new to this site, I use a Canon EOS 450D. Take as many photos as you want and change the settings to see what effect it has. Have fun!

Hi "Old Cromwell",
So, which DSLR did you buy?

We are very friendly here, which is why we'd like to know your first name please - best is if you Edit your Profile and pop it in the Real Name field, so it appears on the left of all your posts, plus, while you're doing that, why not add 'your part of the world' in the Location field?
Welcome to the CiC forums from ....
Hi Terry,
Welcome to the CiC forums from me.
You have given us your name and location here, but we'll soon lose that, so as I was just saying to Old Cromwell above, if you could Edit your Profile, it will help all of us remember you.
To make the most of your time here, don't be shy, post, post, post!
All the best,

Hi everyone,
My name is Emily. I've been a regular to this site for a couple of weeks now but I've only just signed up to this forum I'm currently a stay at home Mum to my two beautiful daughters (3yo and 3mo). I'm an Aussie from Melbourne.
I haven't any photos to share as yet as I am currently on the market to buy my first DSLR. I've got my heart set on a Canon 550d, please feel free to give me any advice on my choice. I'm hoping to buy it in the next couple of months so if you all don't mind I will probably spend most of my time here picking your brains as I start my adventure into photography.
My main interest is people. Portraits. Especially babies and children. Probably because that's where I am at in my life at the moment. I'm sure my girls will be the stars of most of my photos to begin with.
I love looking at all of the photos that get submitted and I get a lot of inspiration (and camera envy) from you all
Looking forward to getting to know you all!
Cheers,
Emily
