Hi,
My name is Ross and have just joined the forum. I live in Canberra and am getting into retirement, so am rediscovering my earlier love of photography, now getting into the digital age and all that it involves. I love travelling and travel photography and now have a DSLR with a couple of zoom lenses and one fixed lens. I used to do a lot of black and white film photography and my own enlargements, now so much easier and quicker with digital. I look forward to learning a lot from the forum.
Hello, my name is Steve and I live in Missouri, just west of St. Louis. My wife and I like to travel around various state and national parks and take lots of pictures. We both started years ago in the distant manual, film, flashbulb era and now have some reasonably good digital equipment. Of course, we are still learning and experimenting. I really enjoy this site and the information received here. Thanks.
Greetings all! Just discovered this site tonight and was very pleased to see the abundance of information here. I help instruct other photographers that are new to photography and this appears to be a really great resource for them as well as myself. I look forward to sharing what I know along with the images that I create to further the experience of learning of photography. — Vince Vicari
Hello all my name is John and I live in Bedminster, NJ. I am just getting into HDR and panoramas. I enjoy the many vantage points that New Jersey provides for the view of New York City. If I had the money and did not have to work for a living I would travel the world capturing all the interesting landscapes and cityscapes. Just one of my latest panos I would like to add to this intro.
Wonderful - A rush of new members whilst I've been having my beauty sleep here in the UK!
Ross - A lot of us fall into the same category. Welcome!
I hope you enjoy being involved and that you find CiC is a helpful forum in terms of your learning and development.
Thank you, Steve. The good thing about CiC, I think, is that you can experiment and seek the views and opinions of others in the knowledge that what you'll get is constructive and, hopefully, helpful comment. I look forward to seeing some of your work.
I'm very glad you did, Vince. Hello and welcome. I hope CiC will indeed be a useful resource to you and those whom you teach.
By the way, so that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.
John - I know the feeling!
Anyway, a very warm welcome to you. Thank you for joining CiC.
I notice you referring to an image. Unfortunately it didn't post. For help on posting images into your messages, please read this this thread - HELP THREAD: How can I post images here?. That should give you all you need to know. If not, then please just call out.

Hello!
I'm from Espoo Finland (near capital Helsinki which I suppose is more familiar to most). I was very impressed of the tutorials and found them most helpful so I decided to join. I'm quite a newbie, shooted with a DSLR for about 2 years now. I'm most interested in wildlife and nature photography but would like to improve my skills in different arts also like in landscape, arcitechture and people. It's fascinating that you can always learn somethin new!

Hi, I'm Arthur and happy to join this forum.
I live in Hong Kong but am spending a good amount of time in London.
I'm best classified as an Enthusiastic Amateur and feel like I'm on the steep part of the learning curve. In the last year, I've joined Charlie Waite and Peter Hendrie on Light and Land Workshops and found them of tremendous help. I've also tried some street photography with the help of Ming Thein and Thorsten Overgaard.
I found CIC when searching for information on color conversion to B&W. I was thrilled to find a series of great tutorials and now a community. I must commend the quality of the tutorials: they are extremely informative and beautifully clear -- and do a great job of explaining even difficult and complex concepts. Bravo!

I'm an italian advanced amateur photography, I'm 50 years old, and I live in Sardinia, one of the biggest isles of the Mediterranean sea.
When I was 15th I bought my first reflex, a Canon AT-1, and I learn how to develop black and white films and to print photos in my darkroom. When I bought my home and I need money, for several years I didn't take pictures except for my holydays and my family, but 7 years ago I bought my first digital camera, a Canon 350D (Digital Rebel XT). For 3 months I studied the camera and It's capability, but I didn't understand exactly the possibility of the new digital photography.
When I started to take better pictures, I began to spend a lot of money .. ) .
I bought several lenses and another camera (an excellent and reliable Canon EOS 40D), last year I bought a used Canon EOS 1Ds MarkII and 10 days ago my new Canon EOS 5D MarkIII arrived.
Several of my pictures (mostly landscapes) have been published in Italian touristic magazines (Bell'Italia, In viaggio).
Sometimes I work with a local photographic agency specialized in photos of Sardinia Isle, where I live.
