Hello, my name is Tom and while browsing the web for anything pertaining to photography I came upon this website. I am from Ontario, Canada and have travelled through many parts of Europe. My passion is to take landscape and street-scape photos and think this could be a good place to get critiqued on my photography. I am always looking for ways to improve my technique. The information on this website is very informative and look forward to submitting photos in the near future.
Hi, I'm Laura I live in a small country town in South Australia. I take photos every day! I have been keen on this hobby for about 30 years but I'm still learning. I used to have my own darkroom set up in the bathroom of which ever house I have lived in but that is all history now. It's back to the drawing board with digital.
Hello,
I'm Jevon I live in Fredericksburg, Va USA and I'm an aspiring to become a photographer. I was going to Art Institute of Pittsburgh online, but even with Financial aid and Student loans after two classes, I found it way too expensive for what I was paying for and learning. I want to know if anyone knows any reputable (one that will help with my career) and affordable school that I can check out?
Hi there. Roman here, originally from Philippines but now naturalised Irish living and working in Dublin, Ireland. Photography has been with me since black and white days (but that didn't make me an expert being a part-timer). Every now and then I would need help and the site looks like a one-stop source of excellent information. I'll start refreshing myself by going back to the basics here. I'll be a frequent visitor here for sure. Thanks guys.

Hello Laura. Welcome to CiC.
I hope being part of the forum will be both enjoyable, but also that it helps you continue to develop and learn. And, in the same vein, I hope all that experience will be made available others on here to help them with their learning.
By the way, so that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.
Welcome Jevon and thank you for joining CiC.
If you wish, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your location so that it shows up alongside all your posts, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.
I hope that being part of CiC can help you with your learning. The tutorials on here are acknowledged by many as being amongst the best that you will find online. And now that you have joined you do, of course, have the vast wealth of knowledge and experience of members on here available to you to advise, guide, answer questions etc. I hope you enjoy it.
I hope that you find CiC continues to be a helpful source of information and that being part of the forum just increases the value this website brings you.
I hope, too, that you'll enjoy taking part in discussions and, of course, posting images into competitions and for comment.
A very warm welcome Graham. Thank you for joining.

Hello,
My name is Daniel, I live in Southern California, as of lately when I am not out training for and upcoming race, Long Course Triathlon or Ultra Marathon, I am trying to learn more about my camera and its functions. I am currently shooting an Olympus E-500 with a 14-45mm and 45-150mm lens.
I hope to be off of the preset auto functions by the end of the year. Thanks in advanced for the help and understanding.
Daniel - Great to have you here.
I'm not sure that there are many on here who will be in a position to offer you support, help and advice re your athletic activities, but there a lot who will be more than happy to try and help you develop your photographic knowledge and skills. Certainly, what you'll find is that people will encourage you to move away from the preset auto functions. Although, at first, it feels as if you've gone backwards, that's because you are starting to take control of the images you make and the learning curve does feel a bit steeper. But, honestly, it is worth it.
hello all, my name is Fred, I manage the Photography depart at a community college in Everett, Washington state, US. My main interests are studio photography and landscapes but I also dabble in DSLR video. I have almost 20 years of experience with Photoshop an have been making photographs all of my life.
Hi, I'm Ken from Florida and love photography, and I want to learn more in adobe photoshop cs6.
Fred and Ken - Welcome
You both have signed up when CiC has just broken its record for the greatest number of people online at any one time. We peaked at 1,114 just a couple of minutes ago.
As I hope you'll see, Fred, CiC is very much a learning forum. So I hope all that knowledge and experience will be made available to others on here to help them along the learning curve as well as you gaining from being involved. Great to have you here.
A very warm welcome, Ken. I hope you enjoy being part of CiC and feel that your involvement helps you learn and develop. There are many members who, like Fred above, have a lot of knowledge and experience and who, because this is CiC, are very willing to share that to help you and others gain that new knowledge and skills.

I grew up helping my dad process his photos in our darkroom, and then watching him paint beautiful watercolours from those photos. I strive to pass along inspiration through photography, like my dad did for me! My favorite photos are the ones which have an element of surprise, something which makes me study it, but ones which look completely natural at the same time. I'm so happy to be part of a group of people who also love photography as art.
Sue - It is great to have you here and I hope you enjoy being part of CiC.
I hope what you find is a whole lot of like-minded people who are passionate about their photography and, because we think of the site as a learning resource, who want to strive to continually learn and improve. That's the exciting bit of the forum.
I hope we'll see some of your work up on the forum and that you'll join in discussions and debates.
Hi, I'm Chuck currently living in Northern California. I've always had a passion for photography, but the digital camera (my first was Canon 1D, then 5Dc, T3i) and internet really got me started. I enjoy editing in CS6, managing 4 different blogs and posting pictures in Pbase.com/ckuhn55 and on Facebook. I'm here to share and learn.
