Just wanted to say hello........I am a new member. Retired mother of 3..........love to read, knit, travel and, of course, photography. Love taking pictures of people/family, scenery, architecture, children...........
I now have a Canon 30D which I would like to upgrade. Looking for suggestions/help/answers.......have read a lot and it seems to just confuse me. 50D, 60D, or 7D?????? Thank you so much.........
Janet - Hello and welcome. Great to have you here and I hope you enjoy being part of the forum.
As to your question - I suppose the first thing to say is that the 50D is now a discontinued model, so unless you were looking pre-used, you can take that off the list. As for the others, at the end of the day is comes down to personal preference. Both are highly qulaity tools capable of helping you make high quality images.
If you want to get into some detailed discussion. you should post a question up on the 'Digital Cameras & Equipment section of the forum, or even doa search using '60D'. I'm sure the question you're asking will have been asked before.
Hey everyone!!
I'm Mia, a medical student in love with photography. I just got myself a Nikon D90 and discovered our great website. Thank you. I look forward to learn more and more from your tutorials and forums.
Hello Mia and welcome to CiC.
I do hope that being part of the forum will contribute to your photographic learning and development. I find that the most useful aspect of the forum is being able to engage constructively with others to debate and explore aspects of photography. I do hope you will join in and, of course, I hope you will post some of your images into the forum.
Hello to everyone.
My name is Chuck, and I live in Seminole FL and Annapolis MD about an equal amount of time. Many years ago I took many, many slide photos, but beginning this year, learning my DSLR and the many new capabiliites this technology allow. Obviously as an amateur there is much to learn to improve and have joined this group and will participate as much as time allows. I often wonder if others 'see what I see' or have I missed something in composition or processing that could have improved my shot. Look forward to the participation.
Chuck - Thank you for joining CiC. A very warm welcome to you.
One of the strengths of this forum, I think is that people are always willing to engage in giving constructive feedback aimed at allowing all of us to learn and improve. We are, luckily, free from the sorts of things that happen in some online groups where rude, hurtful and totally unhelpful comments seem to be made. At least on here people try to to be constructive.
So, I hope you can find the time to participate and that you enjoy it.

Hello all. I live in the north west of Texas in Lubbock. I have been taking snap shots
for 50+/- years and decided that I needed to learn to take photographs. It looks like
this is a good place to start learning how to do that.
All the best,
John B

Hello Michelle. Welcome to CiC.
One request - A lot of members on here do not use English as their first language. I don't know if it is your first language or not. But what we ask people to try and do is use proper grammar, such as using CAPITAL letters at the beginning of sentences and full stops at the end. That helps many members better understand what people have written. Hope that is okay for you.
I hope we'll see some of your underwater images being posted on the forum. In the past, when we've had underwater images, they have always been fascinating to see.
Hello Rossrock and welcome to CiC.
Like I said to Michelle above, a lot of members on here do not use English as their first language. I don't know if it is your first language or not. But what we ask people to try and do is use proper grammar, such as using CAPITAL letters at the beginning of sentences and full stops at the end. I hope you enjoy being part of the forum and that it does help you increase your photographic knowledge and skill.
