I love photoshop and just got my first lightroom program about a week ago! (lightroom 4.1) I really have enjoyed it so far. I take alot of pictures of my grandkids and family and of other odds in end stuff. I am looking foward to learning more about Photography...

Just wanted to say hello........I am a new member. Retired mother of 3..........love to read, knit, travel and, of course, photography. Love taking pictures of people/family, scenery, architecture, children...........
I now have a Canon 30D which I would like to upgrade. Looking for suggestions/help/answers.......have read a lot and it seems to just confuse me. 50D, 60D, or 7D?????? Thank you so much.........

Janet - Hello and welcome. Great to have you here and I hope you enjoy being part of the forum.

As to your question - I suppose the first thing to say is that the 50D is now a discontinued model, so unless you were looking pre-used, you can take that off the list. As for the others, at the end of the day is comes down to personal preference. Both are highly qulaity tools capable of helping you make high quality images.

If you want to get into some detailed discussion. you should post a question up on the 'Digital Cameras & Equipment section of the forum, or even doa search using '60D'. I'm sure the question you're asking will have been asked before.

Hello Mia and welcome to CiC.

I do hope that being part of the forum will contribute to your photographic learning and development. I find that the most useful aspect of the forum is being able to engage constructively with others to debate and explore aspects of photography. I do hope you will join in and, of course, I hope you will post some of your images into the forum.

    Hello to everyone.
My name is Chuck, and I live in Seminole FL and Annapolis MD about an equal amount of time. Many years ago I took many, many slide photos, but beginning this year, learning my DSLR and the many new capabiliites this technology allow. Obviously as an amateur there is much to learn to improve and have joined this group and will participate as much as time allows. I often wonder if others 'see what I see' or have I missed something in composition or processing that could have improved my shot. Look forward to the participation.

One of the strengths of this forum, I think is that people are always willing to engage in giving constructive feedback aimed at allowing all of us to learn and improve. We are, luckily, free from the sorts of things that happen in some online groups where rude, hurtful and totally unhelpful comments seem to be made. At least on here people try to to be constructive.

So, I hope you can find the time to participate and that you enjoy it.

So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.

Hello all. I live in the north west of Texas in Lubbock. I have been taking snap shots
for 50+/- years and decided that I needed to learn to take photographs. It looks like
this is a good place to start learning how to do that.
    All the best,
    John B

Hello John, and a very warm welcome to CiC.

I certainly hope that you do find the forum to be a good place to help you achieve what you want in photography. There are certainly plenty of people on here who are very willing to share considerable knowledge and experience in a constructive and, hopefully, helpful way.

By the way, so that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here

hi all, i found the tutorials here very useful and bec of the section on filters i decided to get myself a warming filter to see if it helps to improve my uw shoots
erm am just a newbie , have loved using my canon g12 , G10 but i think DSLR do help in bringing out the details !
current setup is canon 550D in nauticam housing , great gears but i still find myself doing fair bit of post processing ! so i wonder if any diver has actual experience of using warming filter uw? any feedback is appreciated

    cheers,
    michelle

Please do ask your questions and, as you say, post up images.

    Hello Michelle. Welcome to CiC.

One request - A lot of members on here do not use English as their first language. I don't know if it is your first language or not. But what we ask people to try and do is use proper grammar, such as using CAPITAL letters at the beginning of sentences and full stops at the end. That helps many members better understand what people have written. Hope that is okay for you.

I hope we'll see some of your underwater images being posted on the forum. In the past, when we've had underwater images, they have always been fascinating to see.
