Hi, I'm Art from Massachusetts, USA. I used a SLR in the late 60's and then got away from photography (other than point and shoot) until about 3 years ago. I bought a Canon XSi with 18-55mm and added a 55-250mm lens. I just upgraded to a Canon 60D 5 months ago and just bought a 100-400mm lens a month ago. I've taken some courses in photography but consider myself a beginner who has a great deal to learn. I love the tutorials which is why I decided to join. Most interested in wildlife (birds and other critters) and landscape photography.

Hello All,
My name is Roger and I was born, raised and currently reside in Southern California. I shoot with an Olympus E-3 and shoot various subjects I find it all challenging (i can't believe people used to do this with film and have to wait for developing to see the result when it's too late to correct, I wouldn't have many good shots) but my favorite thing is concert photography. I'll try to post some photos soon for comment.

Hello everybody. I was introduced into DSLR when my son gave me an entry-level Nikon D3100 June of last year ( 2011 ). Was and is a snapshooter(birthdays, vacations and the like- instamatics, lately point n shoot digital ).
I joined CiC just a few days after I got my D3100 and learned a lot from this website. Now at 68, have more time to dabble in photography ( even got an extra DSLR , a 3rd hand NikonD50) . Hope to learn more from CiC and its members.

Hello Everyone. First day and first post. I have done photography off and on for...well, decades, at this point. I have decided to up the game and get better and more serious about my photography. I live in a photographically rich location...Santa Fe, New Mexico. I also like to travel and my camera is always with me. Hi my name is manirul and I came to Canada about a decade ago from diagonally opposite side of the world. Photography is my age old passion but could never practice due to my personal economics. Recently I could acquire a Canon EOS 60D with a 18mm - 135mm lens mounted on it and that has given new life to my long cherished hobby - photography. I consider myself having elementary level of knowledge and eagerly progressing. I shall dare post my shots here which may be considered as work of a pair of novice but enthusiastic hands.

Hello from Alabama.

I discovered this site by accident and I’m so glad I did. The tutorials are simply marvelous. Great examples of how concise clarity can be. While I’ve been in love with photography for more years than I want to mention, there were several concepts that I now not only understand more fully but know how to use.

Those years I didn’t want to mention...well, let’s just say that I got my first “serious” camera, a Nikkormat FTN back in 1968. Went auto-this and that with a Canon Rebel then migrated back to Nikon with a D70. I’m currently loving my D90 with its almost-permanently attached 18-200.

I shoot mostly landscapes or architectural bits, although my great love is night photography.

Hello everyone!

So very glad to have found this site and forum. I'm also a new member from Ontario, Canada. My love for photography started when I was about 13 and took a community photography class. Unfortunately I was never able to purchase good equipment until a few years ago. I now have my "runabout" - a Canon PowerShot S3IS - which I take everywhere with me and could not imagine life without. This is the sturdiest, most dependable and flexible little digital camera ever. Of course I'm knocking on wood as I type this as this little thing is getting on in years . I also have a Canon EOS Rebel XTi with two lenses, the standard 18-55 mm and a telephoto (75-300 mm I think).

The truth is I'm a very eclectic artist and photography is the extension of this. I figured long ago that I could not possibly get good at painting/drawing everything I want to portray so I do it with the lens. It's also a lot more satisfying since I can see the results of what I'm working on pretty quickly.

Anyways, I look forward to learning from all of you!

You're in good company, there a quite a few 'mature' enthusiasts on here. What that means is that there is an awful lot of knowledge and experience and the good thing is that people are willing to share that so that we can all learn and develop.
