Hi, my name is Josephine and I am from Sydney, Australia. I have been taking photo for a long time and I think my work is good but it could be better. My aim is that by the end of 2013 I will have the ability and confidence to enter competitions. Also I would love to be really able to understand what I am doing. I have read books and study long and hard but when I go out on a shoot I seem to forget everything.
Hi!
My name is Marianne. I'm norwegian, and I love photographing.
I'm still learning, and I'm impressed by the quality of your site.
I'v been browsing for some time, and I'm convinsed that it will be very usefull for me to join you.
You have to excuse my english.
I own a Nikon D5000, but I'm thinking of upgrading.
I live on an island and are surrounded by beautiful scenery which of course influence my photos.
Also I love macro and still life.
I'm looking forward to get to know you!
Josephine - I hope that being a member of CiC will help you start understanding and remembering all the things that seem hard to hold onto at the moment. There are many poeple on here who will be very willing to share their considerable knowledge and skills in order to help you learn.
hi to all

Hi,
I am Vasilis, live in Greece and have been an active amateur photographer since several decades (As I get older, I tend to forget exactly how many... ). My main equipment platform is Canon EOS and my current EOS is 5D MK II. (I still have EOS5 and EOS 30 film cameras tucked away). I also have several lenses (about 10), a bucket of accessories, three tripods, two studio flash heads with soft boxes and several camera bags. In a water-tight case I keep my film 6X7 Mamiya with its lenses and film backs that I have used less than ten times! My latest bridge camera which I always carry in my car, is a Lumix FZ 100.
Despite all the stuff I have diligently accumulated over the years, my photos are mediocre. I often envy pics other photographers have made with "point and shoot" pocket cameras! Since 2006 I maintain a blog where I post my photos: http://vasiliscaravitis.blogspot.gr/. I have posted over 400 there and would appreciate your visit and comments.
Here is a sample of the photos I make. Portraits, casual shots, landscapes, macro, panoramas, etc.

Hi All
My Name is Steve (aka Zulu)from Melbourne, Australia, I found this site by accident while surfing the internet. I'm on my second digital camera now as I upgraded my Sony Nex 5 (which was stolen) to the Sony Nex-5n. I'm looking forward to reading some of the helpful information on the site.
Regards Zulu
Hello!
I recently stumbled over this site and got instantly riveted by those great tutorials and even greater pictures.
Looks like a good place to learn and contribute.
Hi Folks,
My Name is Harry and I live in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
Used film for years and eventually moved on to a digital camera : a Nikon D5100.
Trying to grasp some of the mysteries of RAW processing and am trying to work out how to do it, using 'Raw Therapee'
Can't believe the helpful information available here, especially as a lot of it is EXACTLY the kind of stuff I desperately need.
The site looks great, but don't know if my brain can handle the information!

You just have.
Welcome, Harry. Great to have you here.
The only one thing you can do, if you wish, is tell us where you are. You can go to Edit Profile and enter your location so that it shows up alongside all your posts, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.
I'm glad you like what you've seen so far. The fact that you are now in the forum means that you can tap in directly, via questions etc, to all the knowledge and experience that people on here have and are willing to share.
Hi I am Ansie
I live in beautiful Cape Town and am enjoying a great outdoor lifestyle. That is Mountain Biking, hiking, gardening, long walks on the beach and just walking the dogs. But my real big love is photography. Especially macro photography-leaning towards abstract. Landscape is also a passion. But I can't say I am very good with the processing of images on Photoshop. My experience and patience is very limited. But hopefully I will be able to learn here how to do things in a uncomplicated way. ok i uploaded a photo but it says service unavailable???
Hello, Ansie and welcome to CiC. Thank you for joining.
As for that little problem, have a read through this thread HELP THREAD: How can I post images here.. If that doesn't help solve the problem, then please do come back on this one.
I hope you enjoy being involved and that, indeed, you are able to develop your knowledge and skills as a result.
Hello my name is Shelly and I live in southern Ontario. I am new to photography but have always had an interest from a young age. Last year I made the jump to an entry level DSLR, Canon Rebel T2i and I am actively learning all that I can about this craft. I look forward to sharing and getting some critique in the future so that I can improve.
Hi Shelly,
welcome to CiC.
In my opinion you have made a good choice in joining this site. I am sure you have already found out, the site has great tutorials and members with talent and experience which they are willing to share.
I look forward to seeing your pictures and talking to you further.
Hi there I am new to this site. My name is Alan and I have been shooting and appreciating photography for almost 30 years. I live in Victoria, BC, Canada. I started with a Minolta 35mm shooting mostly B & W. I enjoyed push processing the film and prints with the large grain and contrast. I shoot with a Nikon D90 now and do mostly scenics.
Alan - With all that experience I hope you'll be as much a contributor to help others with their learning as you will be someone who benefits from the knowledge and skill that's already on here. CiC is very much that sort of website.
So, I hope you enjoy being part of it.
By the way, so that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.
