Hi all, name's Alan and I'm in rural Suffolk.

Total novice at all this. Have played around with a second hand Canon G5, and enjoyed using it in Tobago earlier this year.

Have decided to upgrade and take it a bit more seriously so will be getting a Samsung NX1000 with the 20/50 zoom and 16mm pancake lenses from Santa.

Something else you might find useful. Sometimes people are not sure about asking for comments and criticism on their images. This thread gives you some helpful advice and guidance about how to get the best feedback from fellow members.

Hello, I stumbled across this site while looking for some photoshop guidance. I don't know I have not found it before !

I have been taking snaps for over 40 years. Now my children have grown up and I have more time I would like to improve my photographic skills. Over recent months I have bought a Canon 40D, a few lenses and a 430ex mk2 flash. I am slowly getting to grips with the creative zones (Tv / Av) and having fun learning. My biggest challenge appears to be getting my head around Photoshop !

Welcome to the club. Still a great tool, despite the fact it's now been superceded a few times by newer models.

My biggest challenge appears to be getting my head around Photoshop !

One that many people struggle with. The secret is not to try to learn it all, but take it one step (process) at a time. It has far, far more than the average photographer will ever need and it a case of working out what the basics are that you need to know and then you can gradually explore new things over time.

Hi, my name is Sally. I am Australian, but like most Aussies love to travel and haven't live there for 12 years. I recently moved to Dubai via the Netherlands, UK and the US. I was doing Lifestyle Portraits in the Netherlands but am now changing my focus and hope to embark on my own photography project here in Dubai. I shoot with a Canon 7D 24-105mm and 85mm and am hoping Santa will bring a 28 or 35mm lens (still deciding), I love going out and getting lost with my camera and seeing where my feet will lead me.
