Hi every one. Nice to be a part of this good team. Found this website and is really impressed with all the info.. To introduce myself, I'm from India and currently in the UK. Is an Ayurvedic physician by profession. Loves to take photographs but not a professional in the area at all. Used to be taking photographs with digitals cams and have had just a few chances to use DSLRs. Now I'm planning to get a Nikon or Canon DSLR and have quite a few doubts regarding every thing from cam body to lenses and filters and all that. Will be posting these in the forums soon. I hope all of you can help me reach my goals. Thanks to all.

Hello, am in process of trying to figure out what camera to buy, after having Lumix with good super zoom for travelling,it is a hard decision to move to DSLR, heavier ,costlier and having to carry at least two lenses. am getting interested in the mirror less option, but cannot find anough information on best one, with viewfinder, good censor and lenses. Tried to find a Nikon one to look at, but new V2 or possible V3 are not in. Any views on these?

It can be confusing joining a new forum. The following information may help you in getting established here. We know you want to get started, but reading this will help you get started properly.

POSTING IMAGES - For technical advice on posting photos, please read this excellent guide How can I post images here? please also see; How to Get Effective Feedback for your Posted Images

VIEWING IMAGES - If you are looking for help on viewing images on this site then try here.

YOUR WEBSITE - If you have your own photo website or Flickr page you may put a link to it in your forum signature (see mine below for example). You can also introduce other members to your site in This thread.

LOCATION - Put yourself on our members map on Google. But please check the security aspects when you do this CiC Google map

CONDUCT - The general emphasis here is on support and learning. To do that, we often give detailed criticism on shots, where people have asked for it. We always try to do that in a fair, polite, and balanced manner. We also have a lot of fun on here, making humorous comments with one another. But again, it's nearly always done in a friendly manner, softened with the use of smilies.

If you follow the above guidelines you won't go far wrong. We rarely have a problem with things that are said on-line. However, the Admin/Mod group monitor all activity on this site, and any inappropriate comment will be removed or edited. We urge all new members to read the Code of Conduct FAQ.

NAMES - It's more friendly if you put your first name in your profile so that it appears on your posts. Select 'forum action/edit profile' from the menu at the top of the page. 'Real name' is at the bottom of the page. We suggest that for security reasons you only use your first name.

Hello Ruti and welcome to CiC.

You can find lots of views in the Digital Cameras and Equipment forum about the relative merits of dslr's and mirrorless options. Have a read there, and then if you wish post your own question (that's the best forum to get answers). Do try and be as specific as you can about what is important to you, what kind of photography you want to do, what your budget is!, and so on.

You will get lots of answers, but don't expect a consensus. And probably best NOT to ask whether Canon or Nikon is best!

I take pictures of pretty much anythinig that interests me. (my dog, nephew, nature, and people). Hi all ,i am kev ,have always been keen on photography but since moving to norfolk me and my partner linda have started to do it more seriously ,my main interest is motor sport ,taking my nissan skyline r33 gtst on track and photographing other cars on track ,we both enjoy going to RSPB reserves ect and photographing wild life ,i use a cannon 1000D and Linda a cannon 400D we both have a assortment of lenses ,i came across this site when i was looking for information on filters and was very impressed cheers Kev and Linda

Sue - I'm glad you did and I hope you continue to feel it was a good discovery. You'll find lots of people on here not only passionate about their photography, but who also want to share knowledge and experience so that we all can continue with our learning.

So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile and enter your proper name under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.
