Thank you Donald, I am slowly getting myself up and running, I realized when I went to profile I was always behind the camera. I now need to find a photo of myself. It's hard to stay away from the beautiful photographs posted here.

Hello Everyone,
Just joined up the following day, and I'm interested in sharing/asking questions about photography. I live in Williamsburg, VA, birthplace of my country (thanks to you Brits), and I'm lucky to have many scenic views of the Colonial Parkway, Jamestown, and Yorktown. I see many ospreys and bald eagles in this area along the James and York rivers, and this is the nesting season which opens up for many a fine photo shot.
I have two Pentax cameras ( K2000 and a K5) along with prime and zoom lenses. I also belong to a local photo club. My prime interest is in nature photography of flowers and birds.
Regards,
Paolo
Hi,
I am ruben from The Philippines. Actually I am still not owning a camera but I am planning to buy one as a birthday gift to myself. As of now, I am on the verge of learning the art and science of photography, most especially the basics and techniques. For the past days, i keep on researching about cameras that would suit up my style and at the same time tracking their advantages and differences from each other. And by that, i am fortunate to see this forum which made me register. I am just hoping that i would get new ideas here and some people will impart their knowledge about photography to me.
Today, i am reading some guides and tips about photography. As i am browsing, i became interested about light painting photography, landscape photography, infrared p. and macrophotography. I hope the next days, i would still be able to discover other techniques as well. I am really enjoying learning these new stuff.
(I am going to reserve my questions and ask them on the other threads. I think they aren't appropriate to ask here)
I hope you can help and guide me. Thank you, wishing to work with all of you someday!

Hello to everyone, I'm Thilak and I use a Nikon D5100 with a 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 kit lens. I'm a begineer with photography knowledge.
I'm happy to take portraits pics with shallow depth of field
Hi Thilak, and welcome to CiC.
I can see that you have already started to ask questions in the forums - I hope that you are getting some helpful answers. Don't forget the tutorials - they are some of the best on the net. I hope that you share some images when you feel ready.
Could you edit your profile to show your real name and where you are in the world? We are all on first name terms here, and it is nice to know whereabouts people are.
Best regards,
Dave
Hello.
Have for some years been using a high end compact (Panasonic LX3) and have really enjoyed the pictures that I have gained from it. Recently however acquired a second hand Sony Nex 5n and it has opened up a new world for me, especially image quality which I just love.
This has made me want to go out more and more now to take photos, just like it has finally become a real hobby for me.
I thought therefore I would search around for a site that would help me develop my hobby, to get the best out of my camera and indeed myself.
So via DPReview, here I am.
I suspect I will have many questions for the future, and who knows, perhaps some nice photos to post.
Dave
Great to have you on board, Dave. And it gets even more exciting as you discover and learn things that are new to you.
I'm very glad you are and, given that CiC is about learning, fire away with the questions. And remember, sometimes it's the 'not-so-nice' pictures that you can learn the most from.

Nothing quite like a massed pipes and drums to get the blood coursing through the veins and the hair standing up on the back of the neck, of anyone with any Scottish DNA in their make-up - especially those of us for whom the original Glengarry is just up the road from where we were born!
Great to have you here Lloyd and I hope you enjoy being part of CiC.
