Hi Jorg (George) I see you prefer the Sony, me too. I have an A300 but am hoping to buy the A77 in another couple of weeks. I am so looking forward to it as the one I have is about three years old and technology is so much better now.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi everyone,
I am a multi-disciplined artist: graphic design and illustration, watercolors, and lately, photography. My latest interest is nature and landscapes, and beautiful light...I've always loved wild places, and now I have an even better excuse for heading out. The other end of the spectrum of my interests is sports photography...particularly high school sports. I show and sell my work as limited edition fine art prints, I would love to hear how everyone elses' experience with that is going.
I use Canon equipment, own a 7D and 5D Mark III with an assortment of lenses for shooting sweeping landscapes to grizzly bear eyelashes. I have quite a bit to learn, having survived on A or P mode for many years and now finding them to be very limiting. So I am here to learn.
Cheers,
Lin

Hi from Alice Springs, Australia. My name is Maggie and I see everything as a photo waiting to happen. I use a Nikon for 'serious' stuff and a Lumix LX5 for my pocket camera. I came to photography very late in life and hope I live long enough to capture all the wonderful images out there at all the places I have yet to visit. My computer skills are even less than my photo skills so this should be interesting; hopefully I can improve both with the coming months and what a great site to visit.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
G/Day! Folks,
Thanks for having me. I'm so impressed with this site that I just had to join you.
I suppose you might call me a point'n'shoot amateur beginner, as I very rarely switched my old Minolta Dynax 505si off Auto.
Over the past few years my little Canon SureShot introduced me to the digital world and the freedom of not worrying about film and developing costs.
With my new Sony Alpha a77, and time on my hands, I feel it is now time to enjoy the greater depths of good photography. In switching to Manual, I know I will need all your help and expertise.
My hobbies include Bonsai and Beekeeping, both of which offer photo opportunities I intend to fully explore.
I look forward to having fun communicating with you all into the future.
regards
Gary

I am a retired insurance agent with a passion for photography. Have been dabbling in it since I was a kid.
Never having posted before I am not really certain if I am even doing this correctly. But, that being said, my thoughts on the suggestions for the e-book cover would focus on the 2nd image presented because it is a visual illustration of light going through a lens to form a digital image. #2 gets my vote.

Hi everyone, my name is Giulio, I'm Italian but I live in Thailand with my family. I love photography, my favorite subjects are nature and the places I visit while traveling but in the last few years I haven't had much time to enjoy my passion, so my knowledge is still a bit at the old analog times. I have a Canon EOS550, and now that I've found this community I hope I'll have time to keep up and learn well all the fantastic creativity possibilities given by the digital photography.

Thank you for the welcome John. Looks as though I'll have a learning curve on navigating this forum, but I'll get there. Is there any means of notification for new messages a member receives?
Cheers, Neil

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello fellow photographers. My name is Preston Bullard and I have been taking "pictures" for some 60+ years. I feel I am now ready to learn something about photography so I will be able to take "photographs". I presently use a Canon 7D and the following lenses: Canon EF 18-55mm-f/3.5-5.6, Canon EF 28-200mm-f/3.5-5.6, Canon EF 100mm-f/2.8 L IS Macro, Canon EF 70-200mm-f/2.8 L IS II, and a Tamron SP 24-70mm-f/2.8 Di VC. I would like to have a longer lens, 400 or 500mm for wildlife, birds, etc. My photographic interests are landscape, architecture, travel, macro, and wildlife. Basically familar with the exposure triangle, dabble in HDR, but am Photoshop deprived. I want to learn. Don't know if it's proper, but am uploading a couple of samples.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi all,
I'm David, a new member on the forum, although I have read Cambridge in Colour articles in the past and have been very impressed by the contents.
I'm getting to be even more manic about (amateur) photography as I get older still :-0 (in my 50s now).
First tried using a camera in earnest some 42 years ago and have hardly stopped since.
DLSR, Rangefinder, and recent MF owner in a small and cheap capacity.
Predominantly using alt lenses, both full MF and also alt-AF, such as adapted Contax N on Canon.
Shoot all sorts of things: landscape, aviation, motorcycle sport, still life, macro, street photography and other candids.
Back into film (35mm B&W, slides and 6x6 and 6x9) as well as digital since 2002...2004
I'm on Flickr as 'smoothlennie' (fear not, it's a reference to gliding) and on other fora with similar usernames to this one on here.

Hello Everyone! My name is Robb and I am most interested in landscape photography. I am currently using a Sony A330 with a few different lenses (Quantaray Tech-10 70-300mm 1:4-5.6 Macro, Sony 18-55 mm f3.5-5.6, and a Quantaray Tech-10 f2.8 22mm Macro). I am very eager to learn some new techniques to put my camera to better use, including possibly starting to take more portrait photos. Thanks for having me. The site looks fantastic!

I hope you all enjoy being part of CiC and get from it what you want.
For those of you didn't do so and so that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile (under 'Forum Actions' on the Menu Bar), or you can just press on 'Settings' on the menu bar right up at the top right of the window. Once there you can enter the name by which you wish to be addressed under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.
Have fun!

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello to the member's of CiC, I'm John. I started doing photography back in the film day's, then moved on to digital. Started with the Nikon D2X then a D3 and now the D800.I'm not a professional but class myself a serious amateur. Still a lot to learn.
I print some of my images which can sometimes be up to A2. My interests are photographing steam engines, landscapes and macro.
I have had a look at CiC in the past and the articles and images posted together with the website are first class.
Regards
John

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello, my name on this site is Cornwall, (cos' that is where I live.) Although I'm an octogenarian, i still regard myself as a digital newbie. I started many years ago with a Brownie box, then went on to a 35mm Baldessa and finally (in film) to a Konica Autoflex. Afterwards my fist digital was a 3Mp Kodak and now I have a Fujipix S2500 bridge and also have the Fuji X10 which does most of the things I want. I belong to two local camera clubs and from them have learnt how much I still have to learn. The trouble is, at my age I seem to forget the basics as soon as I have my camera in my hands! I am also a member of a forum called Ugly Hedgehog and have learned a lot from that and hope to learn still more from C.I.C.
