Hello CIC,
Terry is my name and am now retired. I have wanted to get better at photography but have not previously had the time. I am undertaking some tuition through my local library photographic club which has already helped me to better understand my Canon EOS40D DSLR. I was referred to CIC by my tutor and have looked through quite a few of the CIC online tutorials which have been very helpful. I have come to realize how much I don't know. I do look forward to learning more and evidencing my new knowledge with better photographs.

Hello All!

My name is Wayne Emery and I've been involved with the craft for around 50 years. I've used Brownies, 4x5's, Canon and Nikon 35mm film cameras and currently own a Canon 5D MKII and 60D. I have quite a few lenses but seem to use the same ones over and over, usually a Sigma 105 mm macro or my Canon 24-105L. Have to say I have a lot of fun with a Sigma 8-16 WA, too.
I teach jewelry photography to jewelers who need decent pics for their web sites and I sell equipment that helps them do that quickly and easily.
I enjoy shooting macro for stock, as well as landscapes and I personally enjoy creating useless "art" images that tread the boundary between reality and abstraction. I guess I just like having fun! I stumbled across this site while researching something intelligent to say about sharpening in post and I'll be quick to say that what I don't know could fill libraries. Glad I found this place, and I hope I can be a helpful contributor to some while learning from others.

Chimene here. I use a Canon A540 -- fairly basic but with features I rarely use. Although I've taken a couple of courses in taking pictures, I'm rarely satisfied with the ones I take. I hope to learn more from the tutorials and critiques of pictures here so I can make the use of my camera.

Hello all, Im Walmir, I'm brasilian, born in São Paulo state but i live in Rio de Janeiro more tham 30 years. I recently change my Canon 60D by one 6D with 24 - 105mm L4 lens. I found CiC searching for some recomendation for tripod and I found one of most interesting photo home page i have seen. Hello Everyone, My name Is Dakota. I'm so pleased that I found this Site, and it's a pleasure to be accepted. Photography has been a hobby since I was introduced to it in High School. I'm now in my 50's. For many years I struggled not being able to afford the equipment. It has always been my secret dream to get paid to do Photography. I've spent a lot of my time always looking for that next opportunity for a better job and more income. Finally I joined the U.S. Navy as an Avionics Tech and Instructor. In 2001 I was diagnosed with cancer and honorably discharged. I've been fighting it ever since. The silver lining is I'm now able to improve my photography and My health is stable. I used a variety of film and then digital point and shoot cameras before buying a Nikon D200 plus a Nikkor 17-55 f2.8 in 2008 followed by a variety of lenses. I now use a Nikon D600 with 28-300 f3.5-5.6 and shoot portraits and landscapes, I also use a Tamron 90 Di macro, Sigma 150-500 and Nikkor 50 f1.8D. I look forward to using the tutorials and taking part in the competitions.

Hello to everyone. Newbie here to both this site & photography. I am trying to use my Canon T4i but uncomfortable about its bells & whistles. What I really need help with is f stops. I have read many explanations but cannot get it through my thick skull. Can anyone help this senior?

Greetings from down under. After retiring my 35 year old Canon AE1 many, many years ago, I've been happily using a Canon compact for the last ten years or so. After two wonderful trips to Europe and using the compact to good effect, I have now purchased an Olympus EPL-5. I have wanted to get a camera that had more flexibility but still of a size that I can travel comfortably with. After much deliberation, the Olympus was my choice. I hope she will serve me well in the years to come.

The information available on this web site has been great. Lots of consolidation of knowledge and heaps of new stuff. I'm looking forward to learning more in this wonderful art form.
