    Hi Peter,

You've obviously fitted in well with twelve posts already, so you know your way around, and a fair bit about PS.

The one consistent thing that struck me (and this is merely an observation, not a criticism) about the shots in this particular linked album, is that many are 'shade' shots, often with sun shadows cast within shot. Looking at some of your other albums, I think it was just a coincidence of subject geography, weather and time of day.

    Hi Onkar,

Welcome to the CiC forums, great to have you join us.

I hope you get back and share some of your newfound passion with us.

What sort of subjects do you like to shoot?
I expect you have a collection of film lenses to draw upon with the D300

    Best regards,

    Nice to be here.

    Hi Ron,

It is nice to have you here too

What sort of subjects do you shoot with the 30D and Tamron?

Is there an online gallery? (or create an album here for the pick of your best)

My name is Petre and I found about this website two years ago. I am an amateur photographer. I remember that I was doing some research about HDR technique and I was stunned by the comprehensive information provided and, needles to say, I was won over from the very beginning by the impressive photo gallery. However, I've seen the forum section only today! Shame on me! I joined immediately

    I shoot with Canon 5D Mk2 and my lenses are: canon 24-70 f2.8L, canon 100mm f2.8 macro, canon 50mm f1.4. I've got a Marumi ringflash for macro and 3 dedolight heads. I don't have a flashgun at all .

I like to photograph almost any type of subjects, nature and landscapes in particular, and I do some macro works from time to time. I did some HDR photos and hopefully one day my hdr works will look as amazing as those in the CiC's gallery.
I want to improve my compositional skills and there is no better way than stepping up to the plate and show your works to others for criticism and comments.

Best wishes for all CiC's members,
    Petre.
    Hi Petre,

A very good intro post that leaves me little to ask, except re-iterate Colin's desire to see some of your work, either in an album here, or where-ever it may currently be hosted.

I'm sure we can help you with composition.

Re: Introduce Yourself & Welcome Other Members (2)

I just joined today and decided to jump right in, so as to avoid my usual tendency to sit back and lurk. I have stumbled upon this site before and really enjoyed the articles and photos in passing. So why did I decide to register? Well I am determined to take things to the next level - gosh bet no one's heard that before - and night photography is an area that I really want to advance in.

I have been an avid amateur for several years now indeed I have been doing the photo-a-day thing for well 836 days up to the end of 2009. All quite random but mostly cityscapes and street life. I was reviewing those images trying to discover where my passion lies and I found that over half my shots are taken at night. Maybe this is just necessity - I am not a morning person. I work long hours in my day job and live in the Northern Hemisphere, so doing a daily project means shooting after dark. Amsterdam skies are often overcast and cloudy so I find the cover of darkness makes for better photography. Sure I could shoot indoors, but I quickly tired of that.

So this year is about exploring Night Photography and seeing if that really is my passion. I am planning to take 365 photos at night and I have the first 72 shots down. http://365.jogarrett.com

I am looking forward to getting to know this community and sharing my experiences along the way.

Hi Jo, and welcome. I had a look at your 365 slideshow shots. They are good. I like the artistic nature of them. I must do more night-time shots like that. You are lucky living in such a pretty city. Love the supermarket trolleys.

Thanks Rob, the supermarket trolleys are my least favourite, not liking the noise - I am battling a sore throat so these past 4 nights have been very uninspired grab shots. Perhaps when my head clears I will change my mind.

    Welcome Jo,

My experience with photography was mostly morning and afternoon shots unless I was vacationing. I was inspired this winter to increase my night photography skills, mostly moon shots and I enjoy the challenges.

    Hi Jo,

I'm glad you dived right in and joined+posted, rather than lurk a bit

I too am impressed with what you have achieved although I have only explored 365 | 2010 so far.
I went for the slideshow too, but now I am finding the blog aspect, with a little detail on each shot, rather addictive
I was wondering how you get on, night after night, lugging a tripod around, but I see (or read) that this isn't necessarily so.

    Anyway, I hope you're feeling better tomorrow and it just remains for me to say;

    Hi Everyone
I am new to this site - so here is my intro.
I am a retired radiographer/sonographer who now works in sports admin at our kids school - part of my role has evolved into taking pics for the school website & magazine as an enthusiastic amateur. I am 12 months into my hobby and have done 2 weekend courses - I intend to enrol in a 6 month night school course when our eldest daughter gets her licence at the end of this year & my taxi duties are somewhat less!
I received a canon 7D for Christmas, my indoor sports photos I take with an 85mm 1.8 prime, as the venues are not top notch for school kids, so often very dark.
I hope to learn more as I go from the friendly folk at this site.....first thing will be how to upload shots for critique!

    Hi Wilgk,

Is it "Will" for a first name by any chance?

Welcome to CiC - great to have you with us. I've had a partner on the receiving end of x-rays / sonographs recently ... and I must admit to being at a loss as to how how on earth you ever manage to interpret the results! I also have a theory that the sonograph machine would be great for helping me find studs and dwangs in the wall (although I've been looked upon with a distinct aire if dis-dain whenever I've suggested this at the time!).
