So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile (under 'Forum Actions' on the Menu Bar), or you can just press on 'Settings' on the menu bar right up at the top right of the window. Once there you can enter the name by which you wish to be addressed under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.

I hope you will post up any photographic questions that you have, along with some of your pictures.

Hello everyone, I'm Chris and I use a Canon 5D Mk11 with a 50mm f1.8 lens. I'm a novice and I bought a full frame Canon to photograph small artworks in my studio. I am on a steep learning curve! I have read David Busch's Guide to Canon 5D Mark 11 and also 'Understanding Exposure' by Bryan Peterson. My artworks typically sit within a box 60cm square and 30cm deep, a small theatre, and they are embroidered. I was researching lenses online when I came across a tutorial here at Cambridgeincolour.com and it has inspired me to join your community. I would like to find the right lens to enable me to take sharp photographs with a greater depth of field. The 50mm f1.8 handles low light and shallow depth of field ok but I'm not making much progress with exposure beyond this.

The purpose of this online resource is to help learning. To help people improve their photographic knowledge and skills. Many people on here are always very willing to offer advice, guidance and assistance. All you have to do is ask the questions, read what others are saying and, of course, post up some of your pictures and ask people to comment on them.

By the way - If you wish you can go to Edit Profile and put in your location, so that it appears in the sidebar alongside your message, just like mine beside this message. Then everybody knows where everybody else is.

I was researching lenses online when I came across a tutorial here at Cambridgeincolour.com and it has inspired me to join your community.

Delighted to read that Chris. Hopefully, being part of the forum continues to inspire, inform, amuse and generally help you be as good a photographer as you want.

If you have any specific questions about lenses .... or anything else, go into the relevant section of the forum and up at the to left of each topic area you'll see a button that says something like 'Post new thread'. Just hit that and ask your question/offer up an opinion, etc.

If you ever need any help in getting images posted into your message, then please do read the helpful guide that walks you through how to do it. Click HERE to read the thread.

Something else you might find useful. Sometimes people are not sure about asking for comments and criticism on their images. This thread gives you some helpful advice and guidance about how to get the best feedback from fellow members.
