Hi everyone I am Ayatha. I want to thank Cambridge in Colour site boss. I saw this site when I was searching to have more knowledge about photography. After seeing this site I thought have only 1% knowledge about photography.... .... Maybe I can increase my imagination about photography...

    Hi Jan,

Welcome to the CiC forums from me, great to have you join us, just one thing though - I think we're still waiting for your energy entry, but then I guess you've got to take it first

Pay no attention to me, I'm 'pulling your leg', as the saying goes, but the welcome still stands!

Don't hesitate to ask many questions, it's a good way to learn.

    Hi Anne,

Great to have you join our community, I'm sure you'll learn from us, but do come back and ask questions.

I don't think I've been to Bournville, although I did visit Dudley zoo not so long ago and have been to the BBC Pebble Mill centre - when it was there (and when I used to work for them).

    Hi Pete,

Fire away with those questions - although we do believe there is no such thing as a daft/dumb/stupid question.

Here's one for you - are you still in Thailand, and if not, where now?

Good camera choice by the way, not that I'm biassed

    Hi everyone,

My name is Ken and I am from Joahnnesburg, South Africa; of UK ancestry.

I am 60 years old and recently retired; still do gym and lead an active life.
I started with photography using my brother's Kodak Retina Reflex S camera with 50mm and 135mm Schneider lenses. The first SLR I bought was a Pentax Spotmatic II and used a couple of Tamron lenses. I upgraded to to Canon and bought the A1 and the the New F1. I did a lot of general photography and a number weddings.
I have converted to digital mid 2006 with a Canon 20D and a couple of new Tamron's. I have had further upgrades and my current prime kit is a Canon 5D MkII, 85mm f1.8, 24-105 f4L, 70-200 f2.8L IS MkII, 1.4 & 2x MkII teleconverters, Metz flashes (58AF-1 and 54M-Z4i) and a couple of the new Phottix Atlas transceivers. I'm getting back into wedding photography and also doing some event photography.

I'm relatively new with the flash equipment and still need assistance. I'm a Joe McNally fan and would like to become very competent with flash photography.

Although I have been part of Cambridgeincolour for quite a while I have not been active in the forums. I hope to be more active in future.

    Hi Zek,

Welcome to the CiC forums from me, great to have you join us. Glad you're enjoying digital - what sort of things do you like to photograph? Plenty of Canon users here to help you with any questions, so don't be shy, ask away.

    Hi Wayne,

Great to have you join us here in the CiC community.

In terms of further help, if you haven't seen it yet, have a look at this thread.

Links to Useful & Informative Threads

In particular, the first few links deal with posting images here at CiC as that can often catch people out initially (myself included).

I assume you have already seen the Tutorials (link at top of each page)?

    Hi Ken,

Welcome to the CiC forums from me, great to have you join our community.

I'm sure Colin, one of our Admin people, can help with Canon flash, but I don't suppose Metz is that different, the basic principles remain the same.

Colin and myself are two more McNally fans, so you're in good company

    As posted above, if you like to show us some results, you may find the image posting threads linked from the top of this page useful;

    Hi Ken,

Great to have you with us

If you need any help with flash or strobes, just start a new thread in the general photography discussion forum, and we'll do our best to help. I run a studio with 5x Elinchrom 1200RX strobes (with a variety of soft boxes, barn doors, snoots, grids, reflectors etc), along with 4x Canon 580EX II flashes (with various light modifiers) ... so hopefully I can help somewhere along the way. Joe McNally is a good man ... I'm guessing that you know he has 2 books out, plus, if you pop along to www.kelbytraining.com you can (for $24.95 a month) sign up and watch any one of several hundred training videos, including a handful from Joe.

    Hi Ricardo,

Welcome to the CiC forums from me, it's great to have you join us.

We'd love to see some images, so why not post some in the People and Pets forum, either in a new thread, or join the Portraiture 'school' that Colin Southern is running.

If you need help posting images, here's a direct link to a useful thread; HELP THREAD: How can I post images here?

    Best regards,
Thank you Dave for the kind words and encouragement. I will explore all the threads and pick-up the breads along the way. And if i'm stuck, sure I'll post a question or two. I'm more to wedding and industrial. TQ.

    Hi everyone,
My name is Diana... I live in Central Coast California and have been a photographer for 40+ years! I use a Nikon D300, D200 and I have a little pocket converted to Infrared... cheap, but fun. I do portraits professionally, and all sorts of other things for fun. I have several lenses from wide angle to zoom and several in between. Most of my lenses have followed me from my film days. I have a website where you can view some of my work. www.photoarticulations.com That brings me to the latest turn in my photo art... I do photo painting. I use Painter 11, Photoshop CS5 and a Wacom Intuos 4. Don't know what else to tell everyone... but feel free to ask if I've left something out that you'd like to know. Then I'll choose to answer. ;-)

    Hi Diana

A warm welcome to CiC. Forty years experience is a lot. You have some good portraits and flower shots on your site. If you edit your profile, then your signature you can put your website link in as a clickable link, as I do. Why not post some of your images in a new thread? Just ask if you need anything.

Hi my name's Richard and I've just started out with photography. I had a Pentax ME-super when I was younger but haven't done anything for around 10 years and I've now entered the digital age by buying a 550d. I hope to be around a bit and I'd welcome any advice. I really liked the tutorials.

Anyway I haven't got any funky website full of pictures as yet so I thought I may as well post something. This is a pic of Boscombe pier in Bournemouth near where I live.

Hi, my name is Anthony. I'm from Michigan, USA. I have a Nikon D3000, still using the 55mm kit lens, but hope to start expanding my lens collection. I use to really enjoy the idea of photography when I was little and had my own cheap little film camera. Eventually I stopped taking photographs until my best friend told me he was into photography, this re-ignited my interest in photography and for the last year or so, I've been trying to actually learn photography and become a better photographer. My main interest is in landscape/seascape/nature, but I also appreciate other creative areas of photography. I read a couple of articles on this website that were well detailed and easy to learn from. This looks like a great forum to be a part of so I'm happy to be here and hope to learn greatly from your critiques of my posts and the websites main articles. Thanks!

    Anthony
