I moved your post into this thread as, although you were checking how to load an image, you were also introducing yourself to other members.

So, welcome to CiC. I think you've found the right online resource to help you with your learning. I look forward to seeing some of your images.

If you haven't already done so, please make sure that you read post #1 of this thread HERE which will help you get started. Also our Code of Conduct in the FAQ HERE

I am a newbie to groups so I hope I am putting this on the correct place. Any way my name is John still a fledling photographer, so I am sure I will find a lot of valuable tips. If I have put this in the correct place, I will brave all and put one of my photos for helpful criticism.

    Hi Tams,

Welcome to the CiC forums from me, great to have another Nikon shooter join us.

If you have any questions while working through the tutorials, do ask, the only daft questions are the ones not asked.

    It will get better,

Yep, recognise that as part of the learning process. Once you start amalysing your own work in more detail you develop the habit of thinking about the settings you used and assessing what they meant for what came out the other end.

CiC is a resource strongly focused towards learning, no matter what your current level of knowledge, skills and experience. As well as these forums, where you can engage in discussion, ask questions and seek comment and criticism on your pictures, CiC has a comprehensive range of tutorials that, by common consent, are amongst the most sensible and straightforward that you can find anywhere. Remember to have a look on the tutorials and techniques pages which you can access from the menu bar.

And finally, the Mod team thought it might be a useful addition to CiC to have in-house access to some selected video tutorials. You can find them in the Community Lounge forum under 'Photography Video Tutorials'.

    Hi Fellow Photographers,
My name is Steve. I live in Macomb, Mi. (north of Detroit). I have been involved in photography for over 40 years. I started out as a crime scene photographer and then took the experience and technical knowledge, and applied it to a general interest in photography. Forensic macro photography got me interested in photographing insects and then spiders. I got deeply interested in spiders and have been a regular presenter at schools, Audubon and other nature group meetings. Once I retired from the police department, I joined the faculty of Oakland Community College and took over the Crime Scene Photography classes. Now in my 12th year, I enjoy sharing my knowledge of photgraphy and feel a real sense of accomplishment when I get one of my students "hooked on photography". My students especially like the night trip to a local cemetery to learn how to photograph by the light of the moon and painting with light.
Currently I shoot with a Canon 7D (kept my 20D as back up). My primary lens is the 24-70mm f2.8L. I get a lot of use out of my 100mm f2.8 macro lens and new to my lineup is the 300mm f4L IS. These lenses seem to cover most aspects of my photography.
This website impressed me from the first paragraph. I find it to be a valuable asset in understanding many aspects of digital photography.
I look forward to accessing these pages on a regular basis.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here

Hi everyone! My name is Cindy and I am from Texas. I have been interested in photography for years, but I guess I have not really had time or funds to pursue it. Here recently every time I go to a concert, which I love to do, and try to take pictures, which I love to do, I just get a little mad because they do not turn out great. I am usually stuck in the back of the crowd and my regular digital camera sucks at taking pictures from that far away. I have decided to try to look around and see what is out here. Since I am such newbie, I do not really know where to start any help would be greatly appreciated. I do not want to spend hundreds of dollars on a camera and be disappointed, so any advice for a newbie would be great. Thanks everyone!
