My name is Kaye and live in Melbourne Ausralia. I shoot with a compact camera..Samsung EX1. I love to have my camera with me everywhere I go in my handbag. I did a workshop on "taking your camera off auto" and am enjoying experimenting with the settings and have had some very pleasing results.

Hello Good people,
My name is Laurence and I hail from the sunny island of Singapore.
Although I have been quite an avid photographer for some years, it has been primarily with the "old" 35mm film.
Suffice to say I am on the wrong side of 50, so I am just an old dog trying to learn new tricks.
I am been toying with point and shoot digital cameras for a few years now, and have just recently purchased an entry level Nikon dslr, the D3100.
I hope to pick up pointers from your excellent forum and tutorials.

Hi Everyone, my name is Sandra. I am new to this wonderful world of digital photography. I have the Nikon D90 with various lenses. I finally have the time to really pursue my passion and am eager to learn, learn, learn. I joined a very active photography club in my neighbourhood. They have monthly judged competitions in defined categories and also every month has a different assigned topic. I can't really say I have found my niche. I love everything from floral to abstract and beyond. This month the topic was "Food" so I am posting my contribution. I find it really inspiring to view peoples photographs and look forward to your comments (both good and constructive).

Hi!

I was gifted with a Nikon D60 with 18-55mm lens this December and I don't know much about photography! I am fortunate enough to come across this webpage which is helping me a lot. I am still struggling with the aperture and ISO and shutter speed and hoods, etc. Your threads are helping a lot. I intend to focus on nature shots and sports. Thanks for allowing me to be a member. I am from Legazpi city, Philippines where the Mount Mayon Volcano is.

Hi, Reynato, and a very warm welcome to CiC! I'm glad that you find the site helpful. The tutorials are what first helped me get a grip on ISO, shutter speed and aperture. Also, feel free to post some shots up in the forums and to ask questions. The advice around here is so practically helpful and kind - they're very nice to beginners.

Just registered to this forum, as I'm an amateur photographer new to landscape and nature photography. I'm from Switzerland, so please excuse any English mistakes, but I try my best

I'm a big fan of the Southwest of the United States, I simply love the desert, the canyons, the cities etc. Of course I'm also interested in other parts of the globe, but my focus and my passion lie there. I used to live in San Diego for a year and totally fell in love with the city. One day I hope to return for another, elongated period of time.

I'm here to learn, as photography is a passion and hobby of mine. Mainly I shot cars lately, but I want to switch my focus to landscape and nature.

I'm from Sydney in Australia and I have been a photographer for about 30 years.
I bought my first digital SLR (Canon EOS 5d) a couple of years ago and have traded in my darkroom, well except for processing B&W film. I took my old Olympus OM1 out to the beach recently and was re-acquianted with how good it was to use. Light compact and really easy to use except for scanning the negatives.
I make landscape photos mostly and recently I have been learning about portraits.
I have attached a couple of images to introduce myself.

Hi everyone, glad to become part of the forum although I don't have a lot to contribute quite yet. A little background for when I start asking a lot of simplistic questions: I was a navy photographer in the early 70's and then put myself through school in a different field working in a custom lab doing darkroom work. I suppose I had a fear that I would never be great or famous as a photographer so I gave it up. 30 years later I'm thinking maybe I won't ever be great but I might enjoy life a little better doing something I used to have a real passion for. I'm in the process of trying to sell all my non-photo optics: Televue telescope, Swarovski binoculars, and Wolfe dissecting scope in the hopes of buying a decent camera system. I feel like a child learning to walk with not understanding all the new technology, but I'm hoping I can get past that hurdle and become at least a part-time photograper again. I have the passion, now I just need a great deal of new knowledge.

LOCATION - Put yourself on our members map on Google. But please check the security aspects when you do this CiC Google map

CONDUCT - The general emphasis here is on support and learning. To do that, we often give detailed criticism on shots, where people have asked for it. We always try to do that in a fair, polite, and balanced manner. We also have a lot of fun on here, making humorous comments with one another. But again, it's nearly always done in a friendly manner, softened with the use of smilies.

If you follow the above guidelines you won't go far wrong. We rarely have a problem with things that are said on-line. However, the Admin/Mod group monitor all activity on this site, and any inappropriate comment will be removed or edited.
