    Hi! to Colin

Sorry i didn't mention about the lenses, but i am quite new to this thread business.
With ref; to lenses i have been slowly-- very slowly been getting them over a period.
Cost has something to do with it.!!

    10-20mm and 24-70 Both Sigma

No worries Les - I tend to think of them as "conversations"

That's an interesting collection - is your EF 70-200mm the F1:2.8 or F1:4.0 version? And I'm assuming non IS?

    Hi Thantos,

    It is a cool site

Would you care to tell us a little bit about yourself, camera and PP set up, it's always useful to know who has what, for when questions arise; either from you, or there may be something you could answer for others.

Well that, and I'm just plain nosey!

Anyway, welcome to the forums from,

Hello all, I have Casio EX-Z 1050 p&s . Soon I'll buy Canon 450D + 50 mm. 1.8 + %18 grey card + tripod + remote control. I really liked the website and tutorials because I always ask why... For example : ''Don't use aperture value more than f11-16'' (BAD ) but ''Don't use aperture value more than f11-16 because .............'' (GOOD )

    Hi Sereze,

Great to have you with us - and welcome to the forums

Any questions, you only need to ask!

By the way, even though you get more diffraction at F11 onwards, often one has to use these apertures anyway to get the right shutterspeed (often diffraction isn't a big deal - and correct sharpening helps!)

Anyway, welcome to the forums from,
Sure, I can talk about myself all day long! just ask me LOL...

Right now I am using a Nikon D40 18-55 and 70-200 and have realized the limitations of this camera. I usually shoot most of my pics on auto or the no flash option as I have never had very consistent results with the manual mode settings. I am about to upgrade to either the D90 or D300, Not to sure just yet. I have a few web sites that I post most of my picture on as I mainly take pictures of bands as a hobby. I have been lucky enough to shoot some pretty cool bands ( Metallica, Sammy Hagar, Machine Head, Testament, Death Angel, Exodus.... blah blah blah LOL) I have even had a pic of mine used for an album on a CD! even though I am not sure if it will ever see the light of day now that the band has broken up LOL ! ! ! But oh well. So that's me I am into taking pics of bands in very terrible lighting conditions and hoping to pull out that million dollar shot no one can live with out! I will be adding allot of new toys to the arsenal along with my new camera body. Mainly a very vary fast lens like a 1.2 or 1.4 that is some where in the 25-85 range I think would be perfect. Also looking for a off camera directional flash unit.

I would love to post some of my pics to get some feed back from people. Always looking to improve and understand things better. Is it cool to do that here?

hi Thantos & sereze, welcome to the forum, here you'll find a lot of interesting thinks, but remember you also have to ask and also give you opinion in order to enrich the content. We all learn together!

Hi, I'm Sean from Colorado, USA. I greatly enjoy the laid back comments on shots here in the forums. It's a great place to learn, and there's much to learn about digital photography. I started shooting in college with a Canon AE-1 and then got away from photography for many years. I made the plunge into the digital realm about 4-5 years ago with a point and shoot. I moved to a more advanced point and shoot a year ago, and when I was still disappointed in what I couldn't do with it, I went "all-in" with a Canon 50D. I'm still trying to scramble up the steep part of the learning curve. Thanks for a great learning environment here at CiC.

Re: Introduce Yourself & Welcome Other Members (2)

    Hi Gene? (Thantos)

Thanks for the details there. As I am not an SLR owner (yet) I'll refrain from talking about them. We have several "Nikonites" here that may have advice on D90 vs D300, or be able to answer questions.

It certainly is cool to post pics here, although to clarify, I really mean (for band shots) the People and Pets forum (covers portraits, sport, street (and pets). Other subjects may belong in Nature and Architecture forum. Of course, if Post Processing is being discussed ... I'm sure you get the idea!
Just start a new thread with say; 1, 2 or 3 pics in and ask for feedback.

For 'inline' pictures; they're still best hosted elsewhere and direct linked from you posts here at CiC, there is lots of help on that topic in Colin's Inline Image Posting Guide - "Wiki"

Good luck with the camera choosing,

    Hi Sean,

Good to have you with us and we look forward to seeing some shots from the 50D, don't be shy.
I've put some posting pics guidance on where and how in post #115 for Gene.

Also, if you've any 'learning curve' questions, ask away.

    Hello Everyone

    Hi All,

I kicked off my photographic journey in Oct 2005 after buying my first digital-SLR camera for a trip to Austria. Since then, I have started a love affair with photography. It has become my primary activity at weekends and on holidays.

I have posted my humble work on my personal website:

    Your comments/criticisms are most welcome.

    Cheers,

    Hi CM,

Welcome to CiC Forums - great to have you with us!

Just had a quick look through your gallery - some very nice work there. I think what I'm even more envious of though is what you've been able to do with pbase.com; I spent quite a few hours this morning trying to tidy my site up, and this is the best I could come up with: www.pbase.com/cjsouthern

Hope you'll be here to stay for a while - would be great to have your input in our various forums. By the way, just wondering how you discovered us?

Hello from Scotland and welcome. Love your 'In Two Colours' gallery. I'll study it closely, as I am trying to learn to produce better B&W images.
