Older Chinese homes usually have an altar type affair right inside the front door forcing either a right or left turn as you enter the house. Note: these altars were usually dedicated to Buddha but in the interest of being politically correct during the Cultural Revolution, they were often re-purposed to another deity as this one was.
Actually there is a very valid reason for forcing a turn as you are entering a home. We all know that ghosts can only travel in a straight line and cannot make turns:eek: Therefore forcing a turn at the entrance to a house will prevent any ghosts from entering:D
