    Dasenach Woman 01 - 03

I might be getting ahead of reality right now, but one of the photo clubs I belong to has been running a B&W print competition for a number of years. It is the only competition that is held where a set of 5 images are judged by a single judge drawn from the local fine art photo community.

I personally doubt it will come off this year, but the images will be ready and available for next year too.

I'm concentrating on doing a B&W print of five different women from one of the nomadic tribes that live in the Omo Valley in Southern Ethiopia. This is my first B&W image:

This the second Dasenach woman image that is probably ready for printing now.

Very striking portraits. The second seems excellent both as a composition and technically. In the case of the first, I found the dark spots on the right that I have circled below distracting. The top one is more so; my eye was immediately drawn to it. I would try to dodge them.

Thanks for the comments Dan. I'll revisit that shot when I get the images I'm currently working on done.

These were shot in one of the villages, which was rather busy and rather unattractive, so I went wide open on the aperture, but as we know, that doesn't necessarily take care of all the distractions.

I really like this image. The highlights are beautifully controlled in my view.
    Cheers Ole
