I have not attempted a photocomposite in years, so I spent a bit of time pulling one together.
The tunnel comes from a late 1950s Cold War relic, the Emergency Government Headquarters at Canadian Forces Station Carp. It is part of the entrance tunnel to the complex and was built to house government (political and key civilians) in case of a nuclear attack on Ottawa.
The portrait of my daughter was taken in the studio of one of the photo clubs that I belong to. This was a test shot as I was setting up my lights and she is wearing one of her gas masks on her head. The reason I went B&W is that I used two side lights with red filters on them for the shoot.

I have been struggling to learn compositing. I want to do a "Puppy Fantasy" calender for 2021...
Compositing some cute puppy images (of which I have an abundance) on backgrounds such as this...

Richard - the "trick" to getting a successful composite is that the lighting of the elements that are being blended together have to match to make it believable. That means quality, quantity and direction with the subject and background have to be reasonably the same.

With your dog image, Richard, I can see the join around the dog. Sometimes a bit of edge feathering will blend the images together in a more natural way. Also a slight contraction of the initial selection can be helpful on occasions.
