    My Auricula plants

My Auricula plants are just starting to come to life, normally I just take a record image of them with my phone, but with the current virus situation I decided to spend a little more time and do them justice.

This image was taken last Friday, looking at it again this morning I'm now considering a series of high key images,of the different varieties of auricula that I have. Also rather than standing the pot on a recycling bin lid using the ivy on a garden wall as a background, I thinking more of a studio still life approach.

This is one of the first varieties to come into bloom, it is classed as a "Striped Show" Auricula. For anyone who may be interested there's a couple of other types taken on the same day in the "recent work" gallery of my website.

    Stay Safe everyone.

    Very nice image.

I agree that fiddling with the background could help. The light areas near the flower are a distraction. You could lessen this issue with this capture with a little editing. I started on one: dropped selected everything but the flower, dropped the output white point of the selected area; burned down some of the white areas; and reversed the selection to add a tad of local contrast (unsharp mask, radius 50, threshold 0, amount 10) to the flower. Not a complete edit, and I would do more if it were mine, but I need to run now, and I think this shows that with some editing, you could make the flower stand out more and downplay the light areas in the background.

    I hope this helps

So lovely an image; i would love to remove the blurred leaf seen towards the bottom, or trimming that part away.
