Helpful Posts: One of the activities I had planned next month was to visit the Odawa PowWow that occurs at the end of May just a few kilometers from where I live. With this having been cancelled due to COVID-19, this is something else that will have to wait.
I re-processed an image of one of the women dancers that I took the last time I got there a few years ago. This is an existing light shot using the sky as my background; shot at f/2.8 (wide open) at 200mm focal length to make sure that the background was nice and soft.

You can take nice photos with a telephoto. The colour rending looks good.

The f/2.8 70 - 200mm is the standard portrait lens used by most photographers.

I agree about the 70-200mm f/2.8 lens being a super glass for portraits!
However, I am looking forward with great anticipation to trying the new Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 lens for the Sony. The small size and relatively low cost of this new lens really makes it appealing! I can live without the extra 20mm and lack of OSS...
In fact, I could live with the Tamron trio (17-28mm, 28-75mm and 70-180mm) all three of which total out to just a little over a bit more than the cost of the Sony 70-200mm /2.8 G-Master alone at less than $3K for the three Tamrons and over $2.6K for the Sony. All three weigh just about 300 grams more than the G-Master alone...
