She was very happy to have her photo taken. The colours of the various stalls were memorable.

Jim - Another lovely image. I find these images are fun to take but I have never taken one that I really loved. I suspect the main issue is that the scene is so busy that the shopkeeper is often buried in among their goods.

I wonder if going monochrome and just burning down the background really heavily might be a way to handle a subject like this? It certainly simplifies the image, but the beautiful colours that catch the eye are gone.

Great expression and lovely lady. I agree that the surrounding environment is somewhat distracting, especially the bright chartreuse fabric image left. However, I do think that the colors do add an "island ambience" to the image and her black and gray sarong does differentiate her from the background. If this were my image, I might think of a closer crop such as this:

Many thanks, Manfred and Richard. Both very good ideas in differing ways!

I do think the bright colors in the background are very important, so thinking softening them a little might make them less intrusive.

Well it seems I still don't have image posting figured out yet ... I'll work on it tomorrow.

Should have done the same to the ones in the foreground on the left too

Nice, yet the face does not appear to be sharp enough.

I like the monochrome as for me it accents the girl along with the cropping. For his purpose of emphasizing the array of colors a different angle might have helped as to draw the attention away from her and more on the garments and their colors.
